Shirley Hunter was nominated by her colleague, Josh Priddy.

Priddy has known Ms. Hunter for several years, and she has made a monumental impact on him. She has been in education for over 43 years and has earned many distinguished honors. She has been awarded Administrator of the Year and was given an "A" rating for Beach Elementary School. Ms. Hunter works tirelessly for students and staff members.

"Few principals can look back on a career and say they were the face of a community/school," Priddy said. "Ms. Hunter is definitely one of those principals. She IS Beach Elementary! Parents move to this community so their children can go to Beach Elementary."

Ms. Hunter supports staff and students throughout their careers, not just during their time at Beach Elementary. She embodies everything education should be. She has proven that education is a life-long process that, if done right, can have monumental effects on people's lives.

"There is no doubt Shirley Hunter has impacted the lives of those who have had the pleasure of knowing her," Priddy said. "That is why I nominate her as LifeChanger of the Year!"

I am very blessed to be on the staff under Ms. Shirley Hunter. She is a true leader that helps you succeed in every way. She creates an atmosphere of positivity, creativity and support. She supports and encourages you, helps you when you struggle and sees beyond the "evaluation rhetoric" to see what you truly are doing and teaching. Since I began working for Ms. Hunter, I do not get nervous when she comes to evaluate me, because I know she will judge me fairly, help me improve where I need it and edify me where I excel. She has helped me improve as a teacher and become more confident in what I do. I am thankful for the impact Ms. Hunter has had on my life. She is truly a Life Changer.

I have two kids at Beach Elementary and they love everything about the school. We moved from another school to Beach and it was the best decision we have ever made for our kids. They both have thrived from the from the exceptional treatment and education from Mrs. Hunter and her faculty and staff. Mrs. Hunter is completely dedicated to making a difference in each and every one of her students lives. She not only cares for their education but also cares for them personally and it is evident in everything she does. Mrs. Hunter and her school has truly been a Life Changer for my Family!

Ms. Shirley hunter has a gift from God and has dedicated her life to share that gift with young minds and other educators. Shirley is a dedicated and extremely involved principal. It’s clear, she thrives by knowing her students are thriving. Ms. Hunter constitutes a great example for my children, she is both sincere and pragmatic, with a dash of sparkle and a whole lot of whimsy. A recipe I Iove to see in a leader my children look up to. We only get one run in this life, and my children have an advantage, being a part of Ms. Shirley Hunters school and heart.
