Oralia Vargas was nominated by het superintendent, Joseph Wehrli.
For the past seventeen years, Ms. Vargas has been instrumental in the success of all students in the St. Paul School District. She serves as the office specialist and provides translation services for conferences, written communications and at community meetings.
Oralia also runs transportation services, which include field trips, athletic events, special education and bus routing. She serves the district as a ticket-taker at all football and basketball games, and volunteers as a coordinator of projects to support families in need. Ms. Vargas also supervises the lunch room for K-12 students, as well as the local parochial school.
"This is an individual who arrives early to work each day and is regularly the last to leave the district," Wehrli said. "I recommend her without reservation for this award."
