Support Elieen Leave a comment for Elieen

Elieen Wortham was nominated by her sister, Peggy Johnson.

Ms. Wortham's role is crucial to the success of the operations of her school district, and greatly influences the educational outcomes of the students. Her department is responsible for the payments and expenditures of school funds, both state and federal funds. Although she does not provide direct services to the students, she is busy behind the scenes working to ensure that all things work together for the successful education of the children.

Ms. Wortham leads her department through example, arriving early and leaving late. She realizes the impact that her communication with, staff, school vendors and the public, have on the image and perception of the school district. Therefore, she is very mindful of how important it is to present herself in a very professional manner, displaying the highest level of integrity. She is fair and respectful to everyone she comes in contact with. She epitomizes the golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them to do unto you.

"I know that my sister is dependable, consistent and punctual in fulfilling any task and/or obligations that she is requested to perform," Johnson said. "Along with her dependability skills, she is also patient, a team player and a motivator. She has developed and revised procedures within her department to meet the ever changing needs of the school district, teachers and the students. She has never had any audit findings in her department. In my opinion, she is a transformation leader who sees the big picture of educating our students and how all the parts work together to help fulfill the Jackson Public School District's mission."

"Ms. Wortham gets the job done. Contractors and consultants are paid, educators attend professional development training, the schools and the students have necessary supplies, the utilities are kept on, funds are properly expended, and the list goes on and on," Johnson continued.

As I pass this life but once, let me live so to encourage others on their life journey, showing kindness to all that I meet; adding value to all lives I will touch.’ Currently; this is my personal motto as I travel along life’s highway. I am deeply grateful and so humble to be nominated as a Lifechanger for the 2017-2018 School Year by my sister and mentor Dr. Peggy S Johnson. We all are given the chance to make a difference in someone’s life; rather our occupation is an instructor, administrator, or janitorial, we can all be LifeChangers through random acts of kindness. Congratulations to all this year’s nominees as it take special people in the educational arena to changes lives. Lifechanger indicates that we the nominees are changing others to reach his or her fullest potential. Humble thanks to you Dr. Peggy Johnson for caring enough to share my unwritten story of working in the Business Office. Hats off to my incredible team in Accounts Payable—Monica, Sametric, Ms. B, Ms Janice, and Keisha for always allowing me to help mold, empower, and lead them to success. Without these great superheroes working daily with me, I couldn’t do what I do. To my immediate supervisor who trust me enough to fulfill my job duties and assignments; Ms. Purnell, I thank you. Shout out to the other departments within the Business Office—Budget, Payroll, Accounting, and Purchasing. We all are given the platform to change someone’s life for the better but the decision to do so starts within. My youngest daughter, who has limited abilities, once said to me at the age of 15, “I want to be a good person.” This influenced me to be a better person, too. LIFECHANGER FOREVER! Elieen S. Wortham, Accounts Payable Coordinator/ Supervisor Master in Accounting & Business Administration Certified Supervisor Manager

I have known Eileen for almost 5 years. She is a very energetic seasoned person. She comes to work early and never stops going. She is like the energized bunny. Life has thrown her punches as it has all of us, but Eileen gets up, dust her self off and starts all over again. She is very outgoing and loves a challenge. If there are donation drives, feed the hungry, pack a pantry, etc. Eileen wants to be a part and get others to join in with her. It is an honor to nominate her as The LifeChanger of the Year.

Ruby Dixon Posted over a year ago

I've known Elieen for approximately 44 years. In that time span she has proven to be an energetic, fun, people- person. As friends we shared good times together as-well-as some difficult ones. Specifically, one of the best times was when she was baptized into the church of Christ(and continues to serve the church in various capacities:-)). Her character then blossomed from the aforementioned into a deeper, spiritual :"...Love, Joy, Peace, Gentleness, Goodness and Faith". Also, I like the fact that she is conscientious and professional. An example of this is when she came out(for free) to a neighborhood association community program and spoke to us on behalf of Hinds County Human Services Division and the services they offer. The neighborhood association president appreciated how she weaved into her speech transparency and life skills to benefit the audience.
