It was a pleasure working with Jaime. I know that me and her had our differences and not always got a long. However she was a great teacher to work with. I knew that she was fostering a student and I knew that she would possibly end up adopting Ka’bria. I am happy for her and Kyle. Ka’bria couldn’t have any better parents than those 2. I do miss working with Jaime. She deserves this award.

I want to take this opportunity to express why I feel Jaime would be an exceptional candidate for the Life Changer award. I am the school psychologist at Pinewood Elementary. I have observed Jaime provide high quality educational experiences while fostering strong working relationships with students, staff, and parents. She is truly dedicated to her students and works hard to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each one of her students. For example, at the beginning of this school year, she had a student who struggled with communication, social interaction, and behavior. Jaime immediately identified him as needing supports and referred him to the school's student assistance team in order to brainstorm strategies and interventions to help him in the general education classroom. She implemented the supports and documented his progress. He made some great strides since the beginning of the school year due to her perseverance but it was apparent that despite her hard work, that this student had an un-diagnosed disability. He was evaluated and verified as a student with autism. This was made possible all because Jaime noticed the concerns early on and got the process started so he could be identified and receive the services he needed. And although he was recommended for a self-contained early childhood special education classroom, Jaime was still willing to continue to work with him and have him stay in her classroom as she did not want to see him loose the progress he had already made. This dedication to her students to go above and beyond is what makes her stand out above the rest. She is very deserving of this honor.

Jaime is a blessing and a treasure to our school! I am privileged to work with her and see firsthand how much she loves all students - even when they are no longer in Pre-K! She changes lives by caring and by investing in the lives of any student that comes across her path!

My Daughter and I are so happy to have Jaime in Our lives! We have known her for well over year now. My daughter attended her PreK class, she loved being in Jaime's class! She absolutely cares about each and every child, and their feelings!! Makes sure that they are ready to start the day, even help with the tears for the ones who are having a rough morning. Monday's would sometimes be hard for Us after My child had been with her father, but Jaime made sure to be helpful with that and redirect her if there was any issues during the day. The child that Jaime and her Husband adopted, I Happened to know previously as she was our neighbor girl...This little girl absolutely changed for the better being apart of Jaime and her Husband's life!! Being around Jaime every day this little girl smiled from ear to ear and her world changed for the better!! I am so happy for her!! She is truly where she belongs!!! My daughter tries every day to stop by and Jaime just to tell her Hi and get hugs from her!!! We are so excited for you Jaime, You absolutely are a life changer!!!

It is truly a pleasure to work with Jaime every day. She truly cares about each child in her classroom. She shows them compassion, encouragement, and support; she is their biggest cheerleader and an unwavering advocate. Every day she greets each student with a smile and a hug. Many of her previous students stop in to her classroom to catch up, get a hug, and start their day off feeling cared for and loved . She is so invested in all of her students, past and present...remembering all of their names, family members, interests, etc. Jaime is not only a life changer this year, but has been for many years, and will be for many years to come.

I had the privilege of working with Jaime last year at Pinewood, and know first hand that she is a life changer. She is passionate and committed as an educator, and her students are fortunate to have someone so dedicated! She is always willing to go the extra mile, and puts others first. Jaime is a role model for everyone around her, and there is no one I can think of more deserving of this honor.

I have worked as a speech-language pathologist for 32 years. Needless to say, I have seen about every communication disorder one may imagine. Recently, many more children have been diagnosed with autism. This can be a very difficult disorder to understand, particularly when a child who is afflicted is aggressive and non-compliant. This fall Mrs. Crum had such a student in her classroom. Initially he was undiagnosed with autism, so Jaime received very little support to help deal with the child's outburst. The wheel sometimes move slowly, and it was actually several months of very long days for Mrs. Crum trying to figure out how to deal with this child. But she never waivered in her commitment to try and understand him and to try understand the needs he could not communicate. And is wasn't easy. Mrs. Crum worked each day as a new one, and treated this child, who was so difficult to deal with and so difficult to bring into the "typical" group. Mrs. Crum persisted with love, respect and brought her own expertise regarding children into working with this particular child who took so much energy. But that's not THE most amazing part. When the child was finally diagnosed with autism, Mrs. Crum offered to continue working with the child, even though he qualified to work in self contained special education classroom. Her concern was that he may lose the progress made. That is true dedication. In my long career, someone like Mrs. Crum who is willing to put the needs of her students over hers on a consistent basis, is a rare and special individual. She cares, she is committed and she is definitely a life changer for children.

Jaime is not only an amazing teacher to her current students, but her former students as well. She is constantly making an effort to check in on her former students, encouraging them to always do their best, and reminding them how much they mean to her. She is also an awesome mom to her newly adopted daughter, a little girl who was a student in Jaime's class last year. I love working with Jaime and witnessing her changing student lives every day!

Jaime is not only a wonderful teacher, but a wonderful person. My boys still run to her when they see her. She is so caring, loving, and calm. I even had to call her for some reassurance when my boys were not adjusting well to Kindergarten and begged to go back to her class. She checked on them each day until they settled in. I don’t think many teachers would have done that. She is more than deserving of this award and will forever be apart of our lives!

Each day Jaime opens her classroom door and her heart to 17 three and four olds for 7 plus hours a day. In the evening, she takes over as mom for the student she has adopted. She changes the lives of young children each and every day by teaching them more than just academics, how to be kind, self-regulated, caring life changers themselves. These children will take their kind hearts into the future to make a difference in the lives they touch in their school, families and community. Jaime is a life changer and she is teaching her students to pay it forward and do the same!
