She is 100% involved in making sure the kids at Willow Glen High School who need support get support from her and others as necessary. Liz has had an amazing impact on these students and their families. I have watched her help people and she does it with such grace and calmness. Liz is truly a life changing force!

It's my pleasure to offer these words of support for Liz Roselman. As a school board trustee for her school district, I am well aware of the impact that her tireless devotion has on her students. She has a tremendous passion and gift for identifying a need at the school and then, enlisting the assistance of those around her to help make her dream a reality. Willow Glen Cares is an example of this. On a personal level, Ms. Roselman was instrumental in helping our daughter with letters of recommendations that enabled her to succeed at her current university. She truly is a Lifechanger, positively impacting the lives of some many students throughout her years as an educator.

Liz is an amazing person who's always ready to help everyone. We are very lucky to have her at our school.

Suelyn Zimmermann Posted 4 months ago

As a volunteer for Willow Glen Cares (Liz Roselman's nonprofit group to support underprivileged students), I have seen firsthand the amazing impact that Liz has made on hundreds of teenagers and their families. Countless students have told us that they would not have graduated from high school or had the skills to find a job without Liz' help. Others have said that Liz made it possible for them to attend prom, apply for college, or simply have access to clean clothes and food. Her enthusiasm to help all students achieve their full potential is downright contagious and inspiring.

Liz Roselman is a remarkable educator, and extremely supportive of students in need. Ms. Roselman runs Willow Glen Cares and supports students who are in need regularly. She gets to know all of the students at Willow Glen High School, and students around school are familiar with her kind heart and caring nature. Her commitment to improve the lives of children and decrease the opportunity gap is remarkable. Her passion and dedication to our community and school goes above and beyond, and should be rewarded and recognized.

Mrs. Roselman goes above and beyond her job to provide any type of support or care for the students and families in the Willow Glen community. Without question she partnered up with our new AVID program to help raise hundreds of dollars for the Willow Glen Cares program. She came in to speak to our AVID students and opened their eyes to what struggles some of the students go through in the community and what a little bit of compassion and hard work can do for them. My students couldn't believe how much she does on her own time just out of the goodness of her heart to help others. We were all truly inspired! Thank you, Mrs. Roselman for all you do!

Arthur Milgram Posted 4 months ago

Ms. Roselman not only reaches out with help for our students, but she knows all the resources teachers may need to assist their students as well. She is always helpful and knowledgeable. Ms. Roselman is committed to her work, and commits herself to additional endeavors, such as Willow Glen Cares, to ensure that no students are left without the help they need.

I have been teaching on this campus for 22 years, and I have never seen anyone do all that Liz has done here for students. Liz has worked tirelessly to help the most in need, finding resources where there were none, and always making the time to see the work done. She has truly made a difference in the lives of students, families, and her colleagues.

Ms. Roselman has gone out of her way to help my two children on several occasions. She put their academic welfare first, including working on her off hours. She was pivotal in helping my daughter be able to go to college. We are so thankful for her great efforts and spirit in helping students succeed. She is well deserving of this award.

Thanks to Mrs. Roselman, we have Willow Glen Cares, a nonprofit organization that did not exist until she made it real. Now, literally hundreds of our local students in need have received help with college application expenses, personal necessities, food, warm clothing, laptops for school work, and more. So many more students may better focus on their learning because they are warm, fed, have access to technology, and have those things we so often take for granted. It's not just material items that Mrs. Roselman supports our students with, but also with respect and thoughtfulness. Students know adults care about them and that is criticaly important. Students in need of assistance receive the experiences that all students should receive. For example, seniors receive yearbooks, prom tickets, a dress or tuxedo so that they may enjoy the high school experience and traditions we all remember. Every working member of WGCares is a volunteer and all storage of donations and supplies are kept on our school campus so there is no overhead. The program has become so important that parents who no longer have students at our school, and staff who have retired from our school, continue to volunteer to support the important work of WGCares. All of this infrastructure, the volunteer network, the projects, the clothing closet, the pantry, the opportunities to give... all of this exists because Mrs. Roselman made it happen and gave WGCares what it needed to grow and to continue on. Students prosper because of WGCares and Mrs. Roselman. And that is not all she does, Mrs. Roselman also manages to work full time as an assistant principal supporting our students on campus every day. This is an impressive educator!

She inspires everyone with her creative mind and transforms students educational experience through deeply caring about each individual she comes in contact with. Ms. Roselman goes well beyond duties identified in her job description to ensure that all students are safe and secure and well matched academically and in extracurricular activities. My child and I met with Ms. Roselman over the summer as my child transitioned from a private school to WGHS and from female to male. Ms. Roselman was helpful and respectful in these transitions. The best classes were selected and Ms. Roselman encouraged my child to join some clubs that have turned out to be outstanding experiences. My child is happy for the first time in a long time and credit goes to Ms. Roselman for taking the time to meet with us and thinking of what was in the best interest of my child. She is definitely deserving of this award. Thank you, Ms. Roselman!

Liz Roselman brings so much to W.G. High. She assesses the needs in her school, and then makes it happen! WG Cares is recognized outreach to parents, students, alumni, and the community to help fund the non-profit which serves the disadvantaged at W.G. High School. Liz is a shining example of going above and beyond her role as an educator (which she is exceptional), and is a humanitarian and spokesperson for her student population.

Ms. Roselman has been an outstanding resource for the students and parents of Willow Glen High School. As a parent of two students who have benefitted from Ms. Roselman's guidance, I am grateful to her compassion and sincere interest in the well being of the students. She has provided invaluable guidance to my son, who is now a senior, and went out of her way to find opportunities for him to achieve his educational objectives. She also gave him helpful advice on how to deal with difficult situations involving conflicts with a teacher that caused him great distress and impacted his grades. My husband and I have also sought assistance from school administrators on a number of occasions with varied and often limited results, but Ms. Roselman has consistently been the light that illuminated a path towards a satisfactory, carefully considered solution. We are so grateful that she is providing her valuable guidance at Willow Glen High School; I couldn't imagine maneuvering through some of the challenges we have had to face without her. Willow Glen High School is fortunate to have such an intelligent, capable person in a leadership position. I hope she will be recognized for her good heart, the impact she has on the kids she helps, and her ability to solve problems and set things right. Thank you, Ms. Roselman!

I have two kids at Willow Glen High School, one is a senior. I have never met a leader in education as strong as Ms. Roselman. Her knowledge, competence, caring, and experience is noticeable after talking to her. We had some class assignments problems with our kids in the past years, and Ms. Roselman made herself available and took care of the issues immediately. This helped my kids start the year strong and concentrate on learning. She is like the oil in the WGHS engine, and hope she will stay with us for many years to come. Ms. Roselman is a true educator, and a roll model for other principals. She is definitely a life changer.

John Truswell Posted 4 months ago

I have known Liz for two years when I moved to San Jose from Sydney, Australia. She was extremely helpful to me personally and my son Ben when we were trying to navigate an unfamiliar school system and as a result, Ben has really prospered and is aiming to go to university after high school. I have also been a member of the Willow Glen Cares organization for over 6 months. I have been responsible for a number of initiatives including the procurement of the first 20 computers for disadvantaged students. As a result I have got to know Liz a lot better. She is the most genuine and caring person. She is always prepared to and often does far exceed her role to assist students in the school. Her door is always open resulting in her offering assistance to students at a moments notice and often in emergency situations. The students are the massive beneficiaries of her caring nature. I really believe that several students would not have graduated high school without her intervention. Willow Glen Cares is the most wonderful organization. It provides amazing resources for disadvantaged students and their families. The donations received are all provided to the students by volunteers such as myself. These resources include such things as basic toiletries and school resources, as well as wonderful things such as Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas presents and supplies for the families. The computer program I am involved with is another example of a wonderful resource provided to these students. All this is done within a caring environment and one of confidentially. I am honored to be a small part of it. I cannot think of a person who could be more appropriate for this award.

Madame Roselman has consistently been one of the hardest working educators in SJUSD, since 1991. Sheba’s helped change the lives of so many students, and is so deserving of this award.

Kathryn Longtin Posted 4 months ago

I have worked for and with Liz for many years. Her integrity in empowering others is by far the most impressive aspect of Liz. Liz has a remarkable amount of empathy for those who struggle just to get by, and for those who think less of themselves. Because of this she has changed the lives of students and given them hope where there was none. Liz has been able to lift students to a higher level of not only thinking and learning, but of doing. Liz inspires us all to do better and be better. No better pick for this acknowledgement/award than Liz Roselman.

Liz is an inspiring administrator. Through Willow Glen Cares, she is changing the lives of students and families every day. WG Cares supports the neediest families in our community. She has helped students who feared they had no hope of graduating graduate high school, and some go onto college. She has helped families with food or getting their utilities turned back on. She makes sure all these families have gifts for the holidays. And so much more. The list is long. It’s heartbreaking to hear the stories of many of the students Liz helps but also so Inspiring to hear how she’s making a difference, providing them hope when the thought they had none.

Liz Roselman is one of the most committed administrators with whom I have ever worked. She continues to ensure that WG students are fulfilling all of the requirements necessary for graduation. As evidenced by her commitment to Willow Glen Cares, Liz understands the relationship between student outcomes and family dynamics. I am honored to add my commendations to the many others regarding Liz's nomination for Lifechanger of the Year.
