Melissa Shields was nominated by Gina Howell, a colleague.

Ms. Shields is a proven leader in the field of education. Having been a classroom teacher for many years, she has always shown love for her students and fellow teachers by going above and beyond the call of duty. She has given out of her own pocket for needy students, tutored struggling learners when she has additional time, and is always there for her fellow staff members during a time of need. She is constantly thinking of others by baking goodies or picking up a favorite item if she knows it will brighten someone's day.

As an instructional coach, she has been instrumental in helping new teachers with the curriculum, as well as veteran teachers when new programs are being implemented. She is well known in the Waresboro community and respected by parents as well as the staff. She has earned this respect through consistent service and love for all. Ms. Shields is a great example to all!

Mrs. Shields is wonderful to work with. She is always helpful, positive, and just a ray of sunshine!! She offers encouragement daily and listens to problems and then offers solutions! She is much deserving of this nomination.

Mrs.Shields is a very wonderful and helpful person. I use to drive one of the most testing buses at Waresboro and anytime I needed help she was there to help in anyway she could. I can remember pulling up on good mornings and she'd be out smiling as always and always thanked me and as a bus driver sometime we feel we go unnoticed but not by Mrs.Shields she a very special person.
