Ashley Swartz was nominated by an acquaintance who wishes to remain anonymous.
Mrs. Swartz has a passion for teaching and a deep love for the students she works with. She comes from a family of educators, and both of her parents were teachers.
"Ashley not only loves all the subjects she teaches as a special education teacher, but she loves to share that joy with students," her nominators said. "The best teachers know that they are teachers for much more than the time they are in the physical classroom."
She puts a tremendous amount of effort into making sure that her classroom is an effective place for her students to learn. She works hard in a position that sometimes demands all that she can give.
"Teaching requires a willingness to cast a critical eye on your practice, your pedagogy and yourself. And it can be brutal. Ashley does this daily" her nominator said.
Mrs. Swartz is highly organized and always wants what is best for her students. She works collaboratively with her colleagues and is heavily involved in improving her school and community.
"She makes connections every day to improve the sense of community and quality of education in her school," her nominator said.
