Sandy Clark was nominated by her principal, Wendy Kerr.

To say that Sandy is always helpful and cheerful is an understatement. Simply walk into the office any day and at any time, regardless of how busy or stressful it is, and she is smiling, joyful, and positive. She embraces every school year with a sense of positivity and joy because of her belief in setting up the team for success. She always brings her care, dedication, and commitment to excellence to work every day. The school is thriving as a result of her unwavering devotion to the campus, students, and entire team of Live Oak Elementary School.

On any given day in the front office, Sandy greets people with a gregarious "hello" and often adds a hug and listens intently to what the person who stands before her needs. She believes her purpose is to positively impact the lives of others, regardless of who they are, so they feel like they matter and are loved and treated with respect.

Sandy has been known to purchase a pizza and eat lunch with students who cannot afford a meal. She has given a student money for the book fair because he lost his money and did not want his mom to know the money was missing. She organized all of the funeral details for the school clerk when her husband passed away suddenly, planned birthday lunches for all of the office team and supervisors, called realtors to gain information on housing for a student and her homeless family, and more.

Kerr praised Clark's compassion, comforting students in grades TK-6 when they were sick, scared, upset, mad, or in crisis. She also spent extra time translating for families with regard to their educational and parenting concerns (i.e. IEPs, SSTs, discipline, medical needs, community outreach, and arranged for families to meet with the principal to help address documentation and personal family matters.

Clark is recognized for her incredible ability to multi-task with a smile on her face and grace in her heart even during times of crisis. "When the staff talks about Sandy, it is evident that Sandy demonstrates the 7 Habits of Exemplary Leadership (Covey’s work) and characteristics of a beloved and trusted leader," Kerr said. One team member said Clark was, “kind-hearted, devoted to helping all of the leaders (adults and students) shine.” She goes out of her way to support everyone and treats others with great respect and dignity. :She definitely helps to improve the lives of those around her and for that, we are always thankful!" Kerr said.
