LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

« Return to Nominee List

Lynn Jones (Jester)

Position: Eighth Grade English Teacher
School: Lady's Island Middle School
School District: Beaufort County
City, State: Lady's Island, SC

Lynn Jester was nominated by her daughter, Colleen Paternostro.

From her daughter's perspective, this was the first year that Mrs. Jester was an actual teacher. Yes, Paternostro and her sister often trudged through the summer heat each year to help their mom pack and unpack new supplies, furniture, and a little bit of magic into her classroom before the first fall leaf fell. But now that Paternostro is following in her mother's footsteps, she finally understands the struggles and rewards of teaching. She is able to relate to her mother as an educator. "Because she is my teacher," Paternostro said. "Before this, culminating in what would be her most challenging year, she had been enriching the lives of students for at least a decade prior to being graced with my presence in her classroom."

According to colleagues, administration, parents, and even students, Mrs. Jester was the pinnacle of education, compassion, enthusiasm, and unrelenting commitment to inspiring those around her. But last year she became Paternostro's teacher, alongside the role of being her mother. Mrs. Jester molded her daughter and much of her graduating class into the citizens they are today. "For her students in that graduating class, at least 20 percent of those students turned out to become educators. Coincidence? Sure, but I know that what I experienced in that one year in her classroom emboldened my desire to become a life long learner and educator," Paternostro said.

"Looking back, this year was definitely a highlight in my life, however, my mother has continued to grow and reshape into the educator she is today. Back in the fifth grade, I would have been the only child addressing Ms. Jester as “mom.” Today that is not the case," said Paternostro.

Through Mrs. Jester's experiences at Lady’s Island Middle School, she has become a pillar of education, guidance, and love. In the classroom, her students engage in learning what they never dreamed of achieving. Out of the classroom, her students present their command of the written language, their local history, and their determination to tackle the dropout rate in their district. Mrs. Jester is able to eliminate their uncertainty and failures by adapting and reconstructing how they learn, and ultimately transforming their future.

"Degrees, awards, and responsibility ultimately define a person’s achievement in society. My mother has all three; multiple degrees, district awards, and the responsibility her students, parents, and colleagues. Beyond the sundry of accolades she can add to her resume, I see emails from previous students who credit their success to her support and guidance." Paternostro said. She sees the beaming smiles of students proudly standing beside Mrs. Jester after receiving their academic awards, stopping her in stores to hug and reminisce about previous experiences. These same students often anticipate that their younger siblings are lucky enough to have Ms. Jester in the fall.

"I see my mother as the epitome of leadership, discipline, and the culture of education. She should be recognized for her commitment to learning, adapting, and improving the lives of those around her," Paternostro said. "So as I begin my fourth year in the classroom, I continue to look to her for advice, encouragement, and inspiration. Her influence as both mother and teacher has only enhanced her role as a mentor in my life."

As father of Lynn I could be a little prejudiced with my statements, but I'll try to be as subjective as possible. Throughout Lynn's life she has never been given things freely. She has always had to work hard for everything she has had to attain. Her work ethics have been ingrained into her by her own drive. She has instilled this same drive into her own daughters so that they were successful in their futures. One becoming an outstanding teacher and the other a recently graduated nurse. Lynn has worked for many years with challenged students many of whom started out with bad attitudes but would return years later grateful for her instruction and affectionate discipline. Her home phone was always available till late at night for the students who needed extra help. Lynn is one of the hardest working persons I have ever know who also has a warm and loving heart. When she calls to let me know that she is coming to visit my days are all the brighter.

Lynn Jester is a teacher of an extraordinary caliber. She is characterized by her work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to do whatever it takes for her students to succeed. She knows her content well but that is not enough to make anyone a good teacher. Lynn's expert teaching methods, combined with her knowledge about and relationships with her students, make her an outstanding teacher who is not just effective, but also loved and respected.

Nan Burvenich Posted 1 months ago

A role model to her students and a valued colleague who always advocates for her students, Lynn is highly deserving of this award!

Bet Rhodes Posted 2 months ago

Mrs. Jester made a huge impact on our two children that had the opportunity to have her as their teacher. My daughter would agree that she was her best teacher and drove her to do her best! Thank you so much for your love and dedication to your students!

Ms. Jones is the most amazing teacher. The first three years of middle school, all of my ELA teachers quit for different reasons halfway through the year, making it hard to have consistent learning in middle school. However, when I got to eigth grade, Ms. Jones somehow managed to catch up on those three years and taught me everything I needed for high school. Ms. Jones will always be one of my favorite teachers for making the learning fun and making the class fun in general. Thank you Ms. Jones!

I have worked with Ms. Lynn Jones (affectionately known as Ms. Shoes) in my position as the School Nurse of Lady’s Island Middle School in Beaufort, South Carolina for the past 8 years. Ms. Jones is a professional, compassionate, loving, caring, kind, engaging, motivational, dedicated, passionate and fair teacher. Her wonderful rapport with the children, parents and staff in our school in addition to the community, at large, is exceptional. She goes beyond the call of duty in just teaching during school hours and is available to students and parents before and after school hours to help students maximize their learning opportunities. Lynn has the unique ability to connect with her students and exhibits an exceptional talent of incorporating teaching simple concepts with the State’s educational standards with enthusiasm while encouraging parent participation in education. It is a pleasure, joy and fun to work with her.

Lynn is that one educator that her students will remember for the rest of their lives! She is a hard working , strong independent woman that will reach out to help anyone in need. Lynn truly deserves the Life Changer of the Year award because she invests so much time and effort in to the well being of each and every one of her students and loves them unconditionally !

I don't have enough words to describe what a wonderful woman and teacher Mrs. Jester is. The time and sacrifices she gives to her students is over and beyond. I am A single mother of two boys that she has taught and I am truly greatful for her kind heart and understanding for her students well being and for their future. I have two children and can hardly keep up. She deserves more than I can ever give. Thank you for caring..

I was asked by my neice Brionna Swinton in Mrs. Jones class to write something about her. Mrs. Jones, I'm told is an awesome teacher and care about her students education as well as their well being. Brionna was so excited that her teacher had this opportunity and thinks she deserves the recognition! Therefore I too would like to see Mrs. Jones receive this great honor!

Lyn Dennis Posted 2 months ago

I have worked with Lynn Jones for ten years. In that time we have worked together on many projects, planned instruction together, and co-taught a number of classes together. Lynn is consistently excited by teaching, children, and creating new and engaging learning experiences for her students. The mark of a great teacher is how much students appreciate that person after they have had a chance to reflect on their experience. Lynn consistently has students come back from high school and college to tell her how prepared they were from her class. Lynn has parents who demand that their second and third children be enrolled in her class for the year. Moreover, Lynn is still involved in her students' lives long after they have left Lady's Island Middle School. Lynn is the most positive and loving person that I know. It has been a pleasure and privilege to work with her and have her as one of my closest friends for the past ten years.

Ms.Jones is definitely one of the best teachers that have taught me in my life. I have never been so well educated in my school career. Before I entered her class, I had very poor knowledge on the subject of English, and now, I feel as if I have learned everything I needed to know for my current classes. She has taught me so much, and she has a tremendous personality. Her methods of teaching are extremely interesting and compelling that the students want to learn. She helped me pursue writing and my quest for knowledge. Ms. Jones has changed my life, and I will never forget how she made me succeed farther than I could have ever imagined. Ms. Jones, you are unforgettable.

Karamel Briant Posted 2 months ago

Most wonderful teacher my children ever had. She is caring, kind, giving, and most of all loving to all her students. The profession of Teaching should be thankful and blessed to have such a spectacular individual.

Debra Briant Posted 2 months ago

There are not enough words to express how our entire family feels about ms Jones/Jester. She was an outstanding influence in my daughters life, both professionally & personally. When my daughter first had her for English, she was not doing very well in the subject, but thanks to the excellent teaching & her taking the time to spend with my daughter. My daughter is now a tenth grader but taking all college courses & I believe a lot of it is due to the excellent teaching she received from her. Thanks Ms Jester. I hope you can do the same for my son.

Ms. Jones and I met at Lady's Island Middle School. We were a team of two for sixth grade students. We defied the odds and had an awesome group of students that took STEM and inquiry learning to higher level. Kudos to Ms. Jones for this recognition. It is well-deserved because she is a life changer!

Clay Fowler Posted 2 months ago

I had the privilege of working with Lynn during the 2010-2011 school year. In my capacity as assistant principal, I personally witnessed her cooperative spirit, professional attitude, and caring disposition. Lynn worked collaboratively with her colleagues and I always found her to be the quintessential professional. She listens to others opinions with interest, offers suggestions based upon sound pedagogy, and demonstrates a sincere willingness to try new strategies. Earnestly caring for her fellow teachers and the students she serves is also a strong and noticeable trait in her personality. Her professionalism is a well-balanced blend of competence, experience, and cordiality. She has a genuine commitment to education, as well taking a personal interest in the lives of those she comes in contact with. She is beloved by her students and respected by her peers. I challenge anyone to find a more dedicated teacher, loving mother, and overall caring person.

Amelie Cromer Posted 2 months ago

Lynn, what an amazing honor to be recognized by your daughter for being such a positive role model and mentor. You are well desiring of this honor. Regardless, of what may become of this, you have already received this distinguished award through the sincerity of your daughter's words.

Michelle Sackman Posted 2 months ago

What a great honor to be able to know Ms. jester as both a colleague and as a parent of one of her students. She sets high expectations for all students, and expects them to do nothing less than exceed them.

Connor Sackman Posted 2 months ago

Ms. Jester is one of those teachers that you remember your whole life. To this day I can recite "Oh Captain, My Captain" and I think back on the things we talked about. She was strict but fair and helped me realize I could do more than I thought I could.

Karen Perkins Posted 2 months ago

Lynn pushes herself, her colleagues, and her students to exceed their previous highest achievment. She is tireless and has moved all of her students by consistently improving her craft each and every year. She inspired me to be the best teacher I could be through her drive, compassion and her desire to get personally involved in the lives she touches.

Donnie Sorrow Posted 2 months ago

My name is Donnie Sorrow. I have had the privilege to work alongside Lynn Jester for five years. Of all the educators I have worked through the years, I can truly say none compare to Lynn Jones. Lynn is a shining example of what an educator should be: compassionate for others, empathetic, passionate about life and learning, skilled in educating the next generation, intelligent, brilliant, and fearless. Part of what makes her so amazing at what she does is she is daring and courageous, willing to take risks, to boldly go where no other teacher has gone before. What’s more, while she expertly navigates through the system like a skilled captain, she takes her students with her, as well as other educators who are loyal enough to trust her, directing all of them along the canals and channels of excellence in all they do. For Lynn, this has never been about playing politics or making brownie points for herself. Like all great teachers, she wants to mold young boys and girls, teaching them to think, to reason, to rise above their situations and circumstances, to achieve excellence and greatness in all they do. I wholeheartedly give my support for my friend and former colleague, Lynn.

Kim Goll Posted 2 months ago

As a teacher myself, I know how difficult it can be to motivate students sometimes. Lynn has always found ways to motivate her students in the most creative and original ways! She's inspirational to her students and other educators.

Kristy Bass Posted 2 months ago

I was one of the lucky students that experienced Mrs. Jester’s amazing teaching first-hand. Her class, her lessons, and her love for learning were the highlight of my day. I am one of the 20% of her students that became an educator. As I am in my fifth year in an elementary school, I continue to strive to impact my students the way she did me. After 15 years, I continuously look back on my time with her as inspiration. Is Mrs. Jester a life changer? I can speak from personal experience, and I believe that she is. She encouraged me to be the best student, and I hope that I do the same for my students. Thank you for being the BEST teacher I ever had!

Cristy Sorrow Posted 2 months ago

I adore Ms. Jester. I have interacted with her in business casual professional situations, and have had several discussions about being an effective educator with her. I was beyond impressed, not only with her experienced perspective, but her compassion for what she's accomplishing as an educator in the community. Her upbeat attitude is contagious. She is amazing!

Saleah Posted 2 months ago

When I first met Ms. Jones she was Mrs. Jester and everyone knew her. I had heard she was unkind, hardcore and strict. I walked into her class 8th grade year knowing it was going to be the worst year of my life, but it wasn’t. Sure she was unkind sometimes, but only because she had to be. To work at a school full of pre-teens you needed to have a hardcore shell, and she did. Her strictness only helped me for the better in the long run and I learned a lot from her. Ms. Jones taught me how to adapt and be a better person in my life. She’s not only an exceptional teacher but an amazing person. Her teaching and impact on the world has only improved over the years and she deserves nothing less than this award. We as students love you Ms. Jones and hope that everyone else can see just how special you are.

She pours into people academically, financially, and personally. I have never been turned away when I have interrupted her time for advice or guidance. She loves her students and her job with everything that she has, and I hope that I can make the impact that she has made one day. Thank you, Lynn. We love you!

Ms.Jones really deserves this award.Because when I first met her in 8th grade at Lady's Island Middle School I thought she was going to be give me a lot of homework and classwork, she look strict, and she have us getting a lot of supplies so we must doing a lot of work in this class but what I thought was wrong. Yes she gave homework and classwork everyday but it was a good benefit that came out of it.Because even tho I don't like homework and classwork when I do her work and I can do it with no problems and If I have a problem I can ask her for help with no hesitation and she will help me immediately and also I used to get in trouble with one of my teachers a good bit of times and sometimes I be mad before coming to her class and as soon when I come in her room and sit down I feel good like her class have an amazing vibe or something and that happens every time and also when I got in trouble she gave me great advice and then when I go back to class I would feel much better. Ms.Jones is amazing teacher and I can say that I'm a highschooler now and I am grateful to be one of Ms.Jones former students.

Portia Johnson Posted 2 months ago

I have been working with Ms. Jones going on six years now, at LIMS. She has demonstrated on a daily basis her true passion for teaching ELA to students. She embodies professionalism, perseverance and success to perfection. She observes, participates, and offers advice and a listening ear to all students and colleagues in need. I am very grateful to have worked with such an intelligent, caring, and humorous woman. I have learned a lot from her through classroom observations in her class and in mine, working together in leadership meetings with admin, as well as working alongside of her in SAFE-T/ADEPT assignments. I've learned that we have a lot in common; we both believe in speaking up in meetings, asking the "hard/uncomfortable" questions when needed, and fighting the good fight for our students and fellow teachers. My first encounter with Ms. Jones involved me almost kicking her out of my classroom because I thought she was a stranger who entered my classroom without my knowledge or permission..."Stranger Danger!" I was not able to see her school badge or hear those amazing high heels when she entered my room. I only noticed a woman crouched down near the floor, in black stilettos, talking to a group of my GT students asking about my project. She quickly identified herself, we shared a laugh, and all was well. We still share that story to this day to anyone who asks how we met. She's a great woman...a woman definitely worthy of winning this prestigious award and title.

Mrs. Jester was my eighth grade English teacher and I learned so much from her. She helped me develop who I am today

Alex Richard Posted 2 months ago

In the three years I have worked with Lynn I can say she has always been concerned with one thing, growing her students academically to prepare them for high school. Inevitably, I would always hear the moans and groans from her students about how much work and how stressful her class was. Even through all of this I have yet to hear of a student who did not leave the eighth grade that year more mature both mentally and academically. She was my team leader for the first year as a teacher and a great example of how to accomplish my job as a teacher.

Vernese Posted 2 months ago

Best teacher , mentor, and person ever ! She teaches with such passion and motivation. She pushes you because she believes in you. Me. Jester taught me so much outside of just the English curriculum! Love love love her ?

Ms. Jones is a great resource and wonderful colleague. However, speaking as as parent, I am eternally grateful for the care and consideration she has shown my children. Ms. Jones taught three of my four children, and I am grateful for the work ethic she has helped to instill. In addition, she has been very encouraging, and has the ability to see the potential, gifts, and talents that I see in my children. I am thrilled that she has been nominated for such an award. I have had the pleasure of working with Lynn at Lady's Island Middle School since her first day!! I have enjoyed every second of it!! Lynn is the kind of teacher every student hopes they have. At first she can seem a little intimidating but it is the process she starts on day one to set up the atmosphere of being successful. She is very much in to her students. Lynn is very observant with her students, she realizes poor behavior doesn't mean a bad student. She will take the time to get to the root of the problem and assist that student to turn their behavior around. Lynn runs a very structured class but her students actually thrive on this structure. During this time Lynn has a chance to connect with each of her students on a personal level as well. Her students are always coming to her as a "school mom". She will do what it takes to help all her students be the best they can be. If they need supplies or uniforms she is there to help out. She brings real life in to her lessons. Her students really enjoyed re-enacting a trial from the past to see if they would come up with the same verdict or different. She will push her students to their full potential in a loving and caring way. She also interacts with all students during school functions. What she models in the classroom is what she models with her fellow staff. She is very proficient and business like when she needs to be and she can be fun loving when the situation calls for it. Her heart is always open to listen to her students and ready to help anyway she can. Her love for her students shine every day. They say the proof is in the pudding well it is with Lynn as her past students are always thanking her for being tough on them so they could be ready for High School. More proof, the ninth grade teachers at the High School are sending praises her way of how prepared their new ninth graders are who had Lynn for their ELA teacher in the eighth grade. Amazing woman, teacher, colleague, mother and friend.

One of the best most sincere person I know. Very dedicated to her students, loves teaching.

Mya Belden Posted 2 months ago

Lynn Jester was the first teacher to truly challenge my critical thinking skills. This says a lot considering I was in middle school, and the goal of a college education is to teach students to think critically! Now, I am a sophomore in college and I still think about the sentence diagraming, grammar lessons, stories that helped us understand the meaning of vocabulary words, Ms. Jester’s remarkable shoe collection, and the big, fat binder I filled that I have in my desk. Her rigorous curriculum and high expectations largely contributed to the strong work ethic I have today. I am thankful to have learned from Lynn Jester, an incredible woman.

She is the best teacher and she pushes us to the limit and I love her

Lori Howell Posted 2 months ago

Lynn Jester holds her students to a high standard. Her classroom management is exceptional and her students respect her and work hard for her. Students often cone back to visit us at LIMS and tell her what an impact she made on them and that she was the best teacher they ever had. I know my son will feel the same way after this school year!

Ms. Lynn deserves this honor and then some. She has always been like a mother to me. She lights up every room she walks into, and she genuinely cares about everyone. I hope one day I will be half the woman she is! Beautiful inside and out and my life wouldn't be the same without her.

Mrs. Jester, one of the best English teacher. I Jose Benavides experience first hand the way she always had a positive attitude always would come to the classroom with a high expectations of her students and any help we need she would be the one always helping. I believe that she really and well deserved this award for the simple reasons that she would never ask her students for anything else but to be successful in life for me Mrs. Jester is the teacher that made my mind change on taking English class she would always support me and I had a struggle on learn because the simple fact that my nationality is Mexico an well learning how to read and write would be my struggle, but Mrs. Jester would always help me and have patience with me which is why I believe she well deserve this award and much more. Thank you for your mentor, patience, and a well role model I look up to. Mrs. Jester(favorite teacher) cause if it was not for you I would not be were I'm at now!

Amazing teacher. She cares about her students success in the classroom, but more importantly cares about their success outside the classroom.

Allison Rast Rector Posted 2 months ago

Mrs. Jester was my 7th grade Language Arts teacher back at Mundy's Mill Middle School. She quickly became more than a teacher, and I would find myself heading to her classroom first thing in the morning to spend a little time with her before the school day began. Mrs. Jester was a tough teacher in that she had high standards for her students, but she went above and beyond to make sure we successfully met those standards. Her classroom was active and full of energy. I enjoyed being there. After 7th grade, I continued to find my way down to her classroom, and over the years and as I grew older, we developed a friendship. I treasure the memories I have of my time spent with Mrs. Jester, and am grateful for her role as teacher in my life. She gave us her all, and we were better for it.

Ally Sackman Posted 2 months ago

Ms.Jester was one of the best teachers I have ever had and I will always remember her. She was uplifting, supportive, and pushed you to do your best. I cannot say enough to explain my gratitude for her. She has fostered my love for English and she has taught me more life lessons than any other teacher has ever. No one deserves this more!

Mrs. Jester was most definitely one of the most amazing teachers I've had. She is the reason I love English class every year. She always had fun and creative ways to teach us, and always loved the stories she told us. She always believed in me and always helped with anything I've needed. She inspired me to become great and to travel and live life to the fullest. Everyone respected her because she gave her students the respect they deserved and she never let us down. She will always be my favorite English teaher!

Lynn Jones has worked with my mother for several years at Lady's Island Middle School. My mother has always spoken highly of Mrs. Jones as a person, and has remarked that she is one of the most engaging and innovative teachers that she has worked with in her 20 years of teaching. In addition to these comments, I have had the opportunity to witness Mrs. Jones in the classroom and around school, and I can verify that Mrs. Jones is one of the most committed teachers I have ever seen. Not only does Mrs. Jones care deeply about her students in the classroom, but Mrs. Jones is one of the rare teachers that takes a real interest in all facets of her student's lives. Mrs. Jones is excited to teach everyday, and expects a lot out of her students, who always respond well to her thrilling style of teaching. Mrs. Jones is also heavily involved in activities around the school, including graduation ceremonies and the Eighth Grade Social, and has no qualms bragging about how hard she works her students everyday. Mrs. Jones has impacted the lives of many students and fellow teachers, and my only negative comment is that I wish I would have had her as a teacher when I was in school! I cannot think of a better person to receive this award, and I am very happy to see the abundance of positive feedback that she is receiving. My wish is to find a career that I am as passionate about as Mrs. Jones is teaching, and I wish her the best of luck in the years to come!

Lynn, you were a mentor to me when I first began teaching and one of the main reasons I have grown so much as an educator and a person. The way you're able to balance your passion for students, family, and friends is astounding. You deserve to be recognized for everything you do to make learning exciting for students, including giving them hope for the future.I love you!

I nominate Lynn!

Olga DBartolo Posted 2 months ago

Lynn is one of the most amazing woman I know. She truly cares about all her students as if they were her own children. When they succeed and " get it" she knows she did her best. I love this woman for her passion and devotion to her students and profession. And how amazing that she has also instilled her passion in her daughter, as a next generation teacher.

Carol Poore Posted 2 months ago

Lynn exemplifies what it takes to be an exceptional teacher in and out of the classroom. You do not have to be her student. She took my young niece under her wings during the middle school experience which is not easy in today's world. Our ten year old granddaughter loves spending time with her. She definitely has a gift and passion for her life's calling and is a life changer for many young minds. Her dedication is evident. Thank you Lynn for the joy and compassion you so willingly share with these young lives.

Melissa Denton Posted 2 months ago

An absolutely wonderful teacher who greatly cares about her students. We were lucky enough to have her teach 2 of our boys at Lady's Island Middle School. I wish she could have gone to high school with them!??

A nomination well deserved!

Campbell Thorp Posted 2 months ago

Lynn is genuine. She elevates you when you talk to her so that you want to raise the level of your conversation. She puts a lot of thought in what she will wear each day, which creates a professional atmosphere. She is fun to be around, she is life affirming, and is an exhorter. I wish all my teachers were as thoughtful as Lynn.

Andrew Diamond Posted 2 months ago

Lynn is one of the most loving and caring teachers I have ever come across. Her care for her students transcends the classroom. She takes care of her students far more than teaching. As her co-worker, I have seen her ensure that the kids have clothing for special events, school supplies to succeed, and that they are taken care of on major holidays. She does not share this allowed. She never wants to make it about her, she does it because she is an incredible person, an outstanding educator, and someone I look up to daily. If my students and co-workers ever looked toward me the way I look toward her, my career would feel very full and successful. She derves all the recognition in the world, especially since she never expects to receive it.

Reanna Konarski Posted 2 months ago

I am extremely thankful that I had you as one of my teachers. I never took english seriously, mainly because I was not interested. Then I came to you. In the beginning I did my work but did not do anything extra to better myself. You taught me english, but what you really taught me was how to do everything to my best ability. I hope every student that you have takes the oppurtunity to learn from you and keep that knowledge with them for the rest of their lives. I wish I could have you teach me for the rest of my school years but those younger students should have a turn. I appreciate you teaching me how to be organized and never give up even when I do not understand. I am so happy for you and hope nothing but the best.

I have the pleasure of knowing Ms. Lynn Jones-Jester as not only a colleague but also as an educator who turn my daughter mindset toward ELA from I can't To I will succeed!!! Absolutely no better candidate than Ms. Jester. Every day at school for Ms. Jester was a new day to challenge, motivate, and celebrate her students. I am honored to have been in one of her classes and I cannot say enough about her intelligence and enthusiasm! She is known for her love of students and education, oh and wearing heels every day--the most fabulous heels!!!

I had Ms. Jones as a teacher in middle school. With the greatest confidence, I can say that she is the best educator I have ever had! The learning process is so much more enjoyable and beneficial when the teacher is passionate about her curriculum. She was extremely attentive and anticipated our needs as young learners, not only in the classroom, but in life. To this day I am still connected with her and have met other students who feel as happy as I am that she has been nominated for this award!

I have had the privilege to know Mrs. Lynn Jester for the past 12 years. Even though she was never my teacher, I have been in and out of her classroom many times with her daughter, Kelsey Jester. When being in her classroom, you could tell how awesome of a teacher she was just the by the way the she interacted with her students. She was more than a teacher to them but someone who cared about thier success and the person they were becoming. Teachers today do not get enough credit for all the hard work they put into being a teacher. Mrs. Jester goes above and beyound for her students and she would be more than fitting for this award!

As a former student I am so happy that you are nominated. I just don't know why you weren't years ago! As a 6th grader you helped me stay on track And encouraged all of your kids to do their best. And as an 8th grade when I went through losing my guy best friend you were there for me when I need to talk, when I got upset, and when I just needed to break down and cry.. you were the one that inspired me to write that paper about Eddie that I had you read. You helped me get through so much and I think if it wasn't for you being there for your students and pushing us like you did we wouldn't have wanted to make it! Thank you for being such a Huge part of my life!

Lynn Jones is an excellent colleague and friend. I've learned so much from her over the past three years. I consider her an informal mentor, helping me to hone my craft as an educator. She's a beautiful person inside and out, selfless, and stylish to a fault!!

Kelsey Jester Posted 2 months ago

The most dedicated, hardworking, compassionate, and motivated teacher I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She always puts her students first and is their biggest advocate both inside the halls and in the community. She goes over and beyond to make sure the students are not only prepared to learn, but also that they are excited and confident in their skills. Ms. Jones is no stranger when it comes to working with administrators to ensure the students are meeting academic standards, and revising programs to aid the students who need additional help. She provides a stable source of support for the kids who's home environments are lacking in encouragement, and works with local businesses to help donate not only school supplies, but also clothing and toiletries.

I am not surprised to see you nominated for an ward like this. I know you have a true passion and love for teaching based on the many stories I have heard you tell of your students and work cohorts. And I also know your students have genuine respect and appreciation for not only the classroom lessons you teach them but also the life lessons. Too bad more teachers do not take more advantage of the special privilege they have to change lives forever. I know you have changed lives and turned many young people into better adults and parents as a result of being such a critical role model in their life. Keep up the great work..!
