Yvette Green was nominated by a former student who wishes to remain anonymous.
During the spring of 2017, Carlisle High School suffered a tragedy when two students committed suicide. One of these students was in several of Ms. Green's classes. Throughout the entire grieving process, Ms. Green provided tremendous support to all students and teachers.
"Ms. Green was so strong and encouraging during this time. She never gave up," the nominator said.
Ms. Green and her staff used journalism classes as an outlet for students to memorialize these students. She gives her all to her students and her community.
"Ms. Green's classroom has the most motivating atmosphere I have ever stepped foot in. She pushes you to be your very best, even when you feel as if you can't go anymore," the nominator said. "She not only teaches you to be a hard worker, but she also teaches you to be a better person. Ms. Green is an amazing teacher and role model, and she is very deserving of this award."
