Music that Describes Chantal

Chantal Osborne was nominated by her colleague, Dr. Mary Joan Connors.

Ms. Chantal Osborne is the consummate LifeChanger. She is being nominated for the second year in a row due to her inexhaustible efforts on behalf of child and adult learners in the North and South areas of Miami Beach.  This area has been called the most complex city in the United States due to its multicultural, multiethnic, and multiracial population.

Inherent in Ms. Osborne's responsibilities is a sensitivity to the students whom she serves at three elementary schools and one senior high school.  As a multilingual professional (English, Spanish, French, and Haitian-Creole), Ms. Osborne is able to communicate with a highly diverse student population.  She uses her skills to change the lives of hundreds of newly-arrived immigrant learners, candidates for the GED (General Education Development) exam, high school students seeking to make up credits for graduation, children in the afterschool program, and senior learners. Ms. Osborne takes personal and professional responsibility for helping students to bridge language barriers, adjustment concerns, and often, the ramifications of poverty.

Since her nomination last year, Ms. Osborne has been at the helm of numerous initiatives, many of which are tailored to at-risk learners.  She has increased the number of new faculty and course offerings, and she has overseen the construction of new classrooms with state-of-the-art technological resources.  Above all, Ms. Osborne is a keen supporter of her faculty, and she is always eager to hear the ideas of her colleagues.  Her tireless efforts on behalf of disenfranchised learners are achieved with wisdom, sincerity, and an unmitigated dedication to academics. Her belief in the potential of each student serves as an inspiration and catalyst for the students, teachers, and staff support members.  She is a true LifeChanger, one whose expectations are firm, but fair.  These are augmented by her charismatic presence, sense of humor, and consistent support for students and employees.

This is the definition of not only a teacher but a mentor! Despite of all my situations she NEVER GAVE UP ON ME! All she did was try her best to better me, not only as a student but as a person. This world needs more people like Ms. Osbourne
