Natasha Mitchell was nominated by Shenequel Preston, the parent of a student.
Ms. Mitchell is more than a cheer coach. She is a role model, a support system, a motivator, and an all-around wonderful person. She gives so much of herself to the cheer program because she wants to see all of her athletes succeed in every area of life. Because of her dedication to the program, Sunset High School's teams have the best gear. She gives unconditionally because she not only wants her athletes to be great cheerleaders, but she wants them to look their best. She builds their confidence in themselves and the team as a whole.
Ms. Mitchell cares about the academic success of every student in the program and helps them to be great leaders in school and the community. Last year, she took 12 senior cheerleaders on a college tour because she wanted them to understand the importance of higher education. All 12 of those students are enrolled in college for the fall.
Under her leadership, the 2018-19 squad won 1st place at UIL. The 2019-20 squad has won multiple awards and had eight cheerleaders nominated for All-American. Additionally, the mascot made the All-American team, and the Varsity Squad was invited to perform at the Citrus Bowl in December.
"There is no one more deserving of this honor than Coach Mitchell. She is truly a LifeChanger," said Preston.
