Music that Describes Elizabeth
Elizabeth Lumbattis-Williams was nominated by her colleague, David Sporn.
"Elizabeth is an individual who I have admired for an incredibly long time," said Sporn. "I have watched her magical ways with her students for almost 19 years. She is a program aide working with students with moderate-severe intellectual disabilities throughout the campus, but in the moderate-severe handicapped classroom, she works with all of them. Elizabeth honestly supports students, staff and our school community in such an energetic and positive way."
Mrs. Lumbattis-Williams, who is known as "BB" by the students, is constantly enthusiastic with the kids she works with. Words really can’t describe the way she connects with the special needs students. She introduces subjects and activities in a way that connects and motivates her students to want to engage and learn.
Loara High School's vision is to create an inclusive environment where students are supported and empowered learners. Mrs. Lumbattis-Williams lives this every day, in and out of the classroom. From the moment she assists students off the bus, to teaching and assisting in the restroom, to helping monitor and feed students at lunch, to seeing students back on the buses at the days end, she is always present. Mrs. Lumbattis-Williams is always on and ready for anything.
"I have had the pleasure of having her in my classroom, but I have also observed her in the moderate-severe handicapped classroom...she is absolutely a stand out," said Sporn. "She is nurturing, but also has a presence that the students respect and listen to. She evokes kindness, compassion, and has a work ethic like no other. Elizabeth deserves the recognition as a LifeChanger because she changes everyone’s life, every day!"
