I have had the privilege of working with Crystal Butcher when I was Principal at Surrey Hills Elementary. She taught gifted classes and traveled between schools. I was always impressed with the quality of her lessons, her creativity, and her energy as she taught not only the students but also in the way she shared her passion with other educators. When I changed schools I had the opportunity to start the first STEM class for a PreK-3rd grade building in the state. With no solid curriculum and no school to model a program after, I knew right away I wanted this teacher of gifted students to provide those incredible lessons as "enrichment for ALL students". I was able to persuade her to be a pioneer and create the program which then became a model for other districts in following years. I am proud of the opportunities she provides to students and how she has boundless energy day in and day out with all of them! Parent communication and positive reinforcement are the key to building the relationships that help make Crystal successful. So proud of this amazing teacher!

Crystal is an amazing teacher. My kids would come home excited to show me what they had done or learned in STEM. Each year she takes pictures of kids and their projects and hangs them on the wall outside her room. The kids LOVE to show when they are at the school for a function. She is always smiling and saying positive things to the children. I couldn't wish for a better STEM teacher.
