Alyssa Bloom was nominated by an anonymous student's parent.
Ms. Bloom works with students who are at the lowest functioning levels in her district. Special does not begin to describe her. She has been through so much this year and still shows up every single day with a smile on her face!
Ms. Bloom started off this year with 100% virtual teaching, which is challenging with special education students. Two weeks into the year, she was asked to teach in-person students at the same time. She had been doing this until mid-November, when her district went back to 100% virtual teaching. Ms. Bloom did all of this while being put in quarantine, so she did it from school and from home.
"Alyssa shows absolute dedication to her students," said her nominator. "She communicates with us constantly and is so understanding when our kids are losing it. Special education is hard to have virtually, and Alyssa is always positive, even on the worst days. This woman deserves a medal, for sure."
