Ms Wallace is an amazing educator. In the eleven years I have known her she has always made her priority the academic success of her students. She is an educator who genuinely cares for her students and their well being. I’ll never forget the year she noticed changes in a student and told the nurse. The student was hospitalized and later diagnosed with diabetes....In my eyes she saved that child’s life. That is just one example of how she goes above what is expected of a teacher. She deserves this honor.

Marsha is one of the most kind, charismatic, and creative educators that I’ve ever had a pleasure of working with. She knows how to rally teachers, parents, and students to strive for excellence, no matter the difficulties. She inspired me to go further in my education and to never stop learning. She was a beacon of joy and light in our hallways and the students couldn’t wait to see her. She even saved a student’s life by being acutely aware of some medical anomalies that made her call a parent out of concern. The parent immediately took the student to the doctor where they were diagnosed with a disease that will be a life long battle. The parent was extremely thankful and thanked her for her attentiveness and care for her child. It goes to show how much Marsha loves and wants the best for her students. That’s what makes her a fantastic educator.

Ms. Wallace was my 7th grade math teacher. I am currently a senior in college and we still keep in touch with one another. Math was not a strong area for me, but she pushed me to reach my full potential and continued pushing me until I exceeded it. Ms. Wallace cared about me not only as a student, but as a person. That motivated me to come to her class eager to learn and always striving to improve. Her teaching technique led to my success in math classes through highschool (achieving A’s in AP and honors courses) and through college. Throughout highschool I frenquently visited her just to talk about life and she always provided a listening ear. I recently reached out to her since I’ve been in college to help me with statistics and she happily met up with me to do so. I’ve never met a teacher who knew how to break material down and teach, demand and gain respect from her students (even the class clowns) and actually be a likable person. To say “to this day Ms. Wallace is my favorite teacher” would be an understatement. However, I can confidently say Ms. Wallace changed my life and she is the true definition of one in a BILLION!

Matthew Mooney Posted over a year ago

Ms. Wallace is not the type of person who seeks recognition. However, it is impossible to ignore the immense passion she has for connecting with students and steering them in a positive direction. Her impact not only benefits students but is far reaching and extends well into the greater community. Her students stay connected and often return to share their accomplishments or seek her advice. She has served as a personal inspiration and motivated me to come to work each day with the goal to support the needs of students. It was an honor to work closely with her for many years. The wisdom and love she bestows in children is priceless. Ms. Wallace is well deserving of the life changer of the year award.

Ms. Wallace is definitely a great example of what an assistant principal should be. She, like the nominator mentioned, builds great relationships with staff and students and meets the needs of us all. Ms. Wallace is a committed, dedicated educator whose most important goal is to make sure every child learns. She believes firmly that collegial interaction is a critical element in the success as an administrator and teacher and the success of the school. Ms. Wallace values the perspectives and opinions of colleagues. She also believes that parents play an integral part in student success but knows that the school’s responsibility is to make sure students succeed even if strong parental involvement is not possible. Ms. Wallace is enthusiastic, optimistic, energetic and constantly pursuing opportunities for professional growth. Again, she is a great example of of what an assistant principal is.

Matthew Loyet Posted over a year ago

Ms. Wallace want summer school coordinator for the last couple of summers in the Hazelwood School district. I leave my building each year and it drives my principal crazy that I do not stay in my building for summer but I prefer to work under her leadership whenever possible. She helps make teaching enjoyable again and I recently obtained my administrative degree. She would sometimes pop into my classroom and take over while she would give me an opportunity to conduct walk throughs and gain the experiences of being an administrator. I didn’t ask her to do that, she did it because she wants to help me grow and prepare for the future. She also seems to tune out the politics of our district and focused on doing what’s right for the children. I’m waiting for the day that she is the head principal of a building so that I can transfer and work for her.
