Wow it's hard to know where to start with Ms Murray. Im gonna start with a typical morning for her. Ms Murray wakes up at 4 a.m every morning to go to the gym. She gets herself going to come to her school at Village Academy and do her magic. She works her magic with students and staff at school. Her dedication to her students is truly amazing whether it's talking about high school applications , mediating students that are having a problem or if a student is having a personal issue she is always there to help. Ms Murray also is great with all staff members at school. If a staff member is having an issue with student or if a staff member is not feeling well she is always there. I am truly a lucky person that I work with her and our school is very lucky that we have her. life changer all the way !!!! You go girl.

I have known Cornetta now for over 25 years and I can say without a doubt that her life has always been about helping people. She is always sacrificing for her kids, her family, and other 'family' that she adopts as her own. She has provided room and board for so many people in need of assistance and sometimes I don't know where she even finds the money to feed so many mouths but she does somehow. And she truly loves children, hence why she chose her profession. She goes above and beyond for her kids as she refers to them and her job is not only a job, it is her passion. I am one of those people whose life she has touched by giving me a place to stay at a time in my life when I lost direction and wasn't sure what I was doing. She took care of me like her own child and I will forever be grateful. I can say with certainty that nobody deserves this recognition more than she does. She is an angel.

Cormetta Murray is a phenomenal person, with a love for the young people she serves. She is hard working, and has an open door policy for all of the kids. Therefore, they have access to her whenever they need her. In addition, Cornetta has voluntarily taken time out on Saturday mornings to escort the kids to take the specialized high school exam. She also sacrifices her lunch break to supervise kids lunch periods. When they stay after school for practice or go on trips, Ms. Murray spends her money to ensure that the kids who don't have money, can get something to eat. She serves as an advocate for our youth with parents, staff or other kids. Cornetta cares for the children as if they were her own. She made sure I was informed of everything my sons was focusing on or need to do to be successful in Village Academy. She always said to me," It takes a village to raise a child" and she meant that. There was nothing my sons could not go to Mrs. Murry for. When my son was having trouble applying to HS there go Mrs. Murry, taking her time to go over his academic grades and choosing a school that fits my son. I couldn't ask for a better Role model, School Mother and Friend than this woman Mrs. Murry. God bless her and Mrs. Murry never stop what your doing because this world is becoming hard and hard for our children. We need more Mrs. Murry's in this world and Far Rockaway. God bless...

Ms. Murray works for us at the YMCA at Village Academy as a Behavioral Specialist. I know her since last year of February 2017. She has always been a most friendly person, gives advices and encourages all of us. I always would make jokes with her, since both of us are from the Caribbean. We love u Ms. Murray!!!

I was an difficult parent because every school social worker I met was not helpful towards me and my daughter but not Ms.Murray she is very loving caring women and we have grown to love her as part of our family still after my daughter has been gone for two years now and she still stay in touch. I want to tell one story about her that people don’t know she goes way above her responsibilities and make sure our kids are good and safe and for that the world deserves to know how phenomenal this women is to us. Ms. Murray is a hard working and dedicated individual. When she takes on a tasks; no matter how simple or complex she gives 100% of herself to ensure that it is not only completed but done in a manner that will effect positivity to those involved. Such is the case with her and her students. It is not the easiest task to teach, guide and mentor our youth and yet she does just that with passion, love, and patience. Ms. Murray is truly a blessing to all she may encounter. She reminds us that life is precious and every moment cherishable with a genuine smile, carefree laugh and heart of pure gold. "To infinity and beyond" should be her motto because there is absolutely no limit to how far she will go to help others! Selfless indeed.

Ms. Murray is passionate and dedicated about her role as a school social worker. She is very committed to the social/emotional and educational development of all the students at Village Academy. While working at MS319, I have observed the tremendous impact of her leadership role in helping the students acquire the resiliency skills, developing positive motivation and aspiration about school success.
Additionally, Ms. Murray has been very supportive and helpful to parents in nurturing social/ emotional development in their children. I have witnessed her passion in guiding parents about how to help their children develop healthy and productive lifestyles. Ms. Murray have been proactive about all students upholding school rules, being responsible, respectful, and working hard to achieve success in life.
