Keith Allonardo was nominated by a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous.
Mr. Allonardo has a natural ability to connect with his students. He is very humble, but he makes a big difference in the lives of those who come into contact with him. He is able to connect with the kids that most can't connect with because they feel comfortable and safe with him.
Mr. Allonardo reached out to certain students who needed a positive role model in their lives. He started a fishing club for students who shared his interest in fishing. There are about 45 kids who are a part of his club. He provides them with the tools needed to fish, as well as life lessons that go far beyond fishing.
Mr. Allonardo recently found out that one of his students was colorblind, and set out on a mission to have this student experience a vivid fishing experience. He organized a fundraiser so this student could buy a pair of glasses that restore color vision for colorblined individuals. This goal was accomplished within hours, and now the student has the opportunity to see the fish in a different light.
"Keith has gone above and beyond in so many ways, and I don't think he truly knows the impact he has on not only his students, but his coworkers as well," the nominator said. "It is a privilege and an honor to work with someone so caring and giving.
