Linda Lawyer was nominated by a friend who wishes to remain anonymous.
Ms. Lawyer has been a driving force in improving and changing the lives of students in the Delsea School District for many years. She works tirelessly with any and all students. She not only works individually with students and families who are experiencing difficulties with drug, alcohol or mental health issues, but she also plans, organizes and works to provide them with programs and information. Ms. Lawyer does this to improve, their lives and increase the likelihood of positive life choices.
Ms. Lawyer is able to assist many families through her caring nature, her in-depth knowledge and her personal connections with agencies and programs that work with families to assist them. Many of the students who come to her for assistance are in desperate situations, and she is able to help them see that their lives can improve.
Many positive programs at Delsea are the result of Ms. Lawyer's hard work and ability to collaborate with other staff members. Ms. Lawyer has been a driving force in groups and activities that build leadership skills in students, including the Interact Club and other programs too numerous to list.
In addition to activities for students, Ms. Lawyer plans and organizes activities for families that include evening information sessions on drug prevention and other relevant issues. She organizes activities for the staff and presents on topics relevant to addressing concerns for students and families in the Delsea Community.
Ms. Lawyer is a member to the NJ State Student Assistance Counselors, and has been a leader in that organization. Outside of Delsea, she is a member of the Gloucester County Traumatic Loss Coalition, which is an organization that provides counseling to school districts after a crisis. She participates in many other organizations as well.
"There are many caring and hardworking educators in our district," the nominator said. "In my mind, Linda Lawyer works hard every day to be a positive influence on all, and has made a positive impact on countless lives here at Delsea."
