I entered my third year teaching when Mary transferred to my school. Things were not going well. Even though she didn't know me and was coming into a new building, Mary really took me under her wing more than she had to. She taught me how to be a difference maker for our students - to not only teach the standards as best we could, but also stand up for the curriculum changes we know are right. There's no one in teaching I look up to more. Mary is the glue that has kept our team together, battling through six years of kindergarten together. And we're awesome. Thanks, Mary.

Such a wonderful person and educator. Through this past year I have been able to work with this amazing gal on the DSEA Kindergarten Task Force and on DSEA resolutions committee. She has a great energetic spirit and is such a genuine person. She love what she does and she always puts her students needs first. She is definitely a life changer in her community and in her classroom! Way to go Mary R. Pieri!!

Mary inspires me with her passion for developmentally appropriate teaching, her advocacy for children and for teachers, and her caring for everyone she encounters. She is person first and always seeking to be more culturaly competant. She has given me invaluable guidance as a mother and as a therapist working with children. She is the a role model and I am proud to know her.

Mrs. Pieri is my daughter. She is such a shining example of treat others as you would they treat you. Her love of teaching these young students how to be a community and care about one another brings her father and I much joy. Every student is Her student and she strives to unlock their happiness through age appropriate learning and play. Mary is always looking for the rights of all, whether her students or her fellow teachers. She deserves this award and it is not only my privilege to call her my daughter but also one of my very best friends.

I have been privileged to teach kindergarten alongside Mary for the past 8 years. She is the definition of a life changer. Her commitment, passion, and drive shine through every day. She motivates me to be the best teacher, leader, and advocate I can be, as she does for her colleagues throughout our building, district, and state. She is relentless in her drive to do what is best for her students (and all students, for that matter) through not only her work in her own classroom, but through advocating for real, developmentally appropriate policy change. I am so proud to call Mary my colleague and friend. I cannot think of anyone more deserving.

Mary is my wife. I am very proud of her and the work she does as a teacher. She cares for each one of her students every school year as if they were all her own children. She loves to teach and loves to be a positive roll model for them. It would be amazing to see her win this award and be recognized for all her hard work. Thank you.
