Amy Brown was nominated by a colleague, Birch Graves.

"Amy Brown has worked tirelessly to discover and meet the needs of students. Any time a student had a need that was outside the reach of teachers such as myself, we could count on Amy to take care of that student," said Graves. "She has provided clean shoes and warm jackets for kids who couldn't afford them. I have seen her repeatedly check in with struggling students on their homework and connect those students with mentors from the community. She has made sure special needs students get a needed bath at school. Perhaps most importantly, she has done an amazing amount of work for students' mental health, being the front line of help for many students who come to school dealing with trauma and other invisible hardships. For years, Amy Brown has been the caring heart of our school."
