He works with our special education students, and they help him take out the trash and clean up the commons. He lets them tag along with him. He always has positive energy and truly cares about keeping our building clean and safe for our students."
Mr. Coleman is the light of John Marshall High School. He greets you every day with a smile - no matter what is on his plate. If I ever need help with something - or need something fixed - I know he will be there quickly and make my day while doing it. I could not imagine another individual being more deserving of this award.
Mr. Coleman is the best. He is responsive, prompt, and a huge help to numerous facets of our high school. He is critical in the daily operations; he truly keeps this place running. Not only is he talented in his work, he is a kind and joyous individual. As a new staff member here, he made me feel welcome from the very start. Mr. Coleman continues to be a light among staff and students. His impact far exceeds the maintenance improvements he accomplishes. Mr. Coleman is a wonderful person through and through who is fully deserving of this award.

Mr. Coleman is one of the most honest, hardworking, caring, and well-respected individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He does everything for everyone, and he does it with the biggest smile you have ever seen. With all the literal crap/garbage the man has to deal with on a daily basis you never see him in a bad mood or even the slightest inclination that he does not love his job. Mr. Coleman is simply the best. He is always working really hard taking care of huge issues at the school, like a leaking roof, a broken down heating unit, or a sink flooding the baseball pressbox building. In addition to taking care of all these big things, he makes time to help out with the little things as well. Recently, I dropped a picture frame behind my whiteboard that is attached to the wall. He took time out of his busy day to help me find something long to try and push the picture frame out from behind the white board. Another time, a student thought they broke a sink in my room and couldn't turn the water off. Mr. Coleman was there in just a few moments with his tools and easily turned the sink off. He smiled and joked with the students and did not make them or me feel bad about the problem we had. He is one of the nicest people I know.
My name is Dave Allender and I am Jeff's supervisor. Jeff is always one of the bright spots in my day. He is one of the hardest working individuals I have ever had the privilege to work with. He works tirelessly to make sure the school is always in tip top shape! Jeff takes great pride in his building.
Where Jeff really shines is the relationships he builds with faculty and students. Jeff is very invested in the student body. He is always vocal and a positive force in the lives of the students at John Marshall High School. The student body adore Jeff.
I cannot see anyone more fitting for this award than Jeff Coleman. He exemplifies all that is good. His kindness, work ethic, and leadership truly make John Marshall High School a better place.
This man is one of the greatest guys I know! I had a privilege of knowing him through my duration of highschool! He never fails to put a smile on anyone's face! Or give an uplifting comment! He would give the shirt off his back to anyone!

No one is more deserving than Jeff!
Soooo… I am supposed to leave a few kind words about Jeff Coleman: a few? just a few? IMPOSSIBLE. What stands out the most to me about Jeff is his love for our students and the relationships he makes with them. Jeff’s walkie, phone, etc. doesn’t stop and yet he takes time for our students by mentoring them via work or just a friendly hello. He once told me that summer is not his favorite time to work because he misses the students and he looks forward to their return in the fall.
One time, I walked into his “ office” to find Jeff eating his sack lunch, listening to some classic rock, getting ready to put a rocking chair together for a retiring teacher. There isn’t ANYTHING he won’t do for you. He delivers our packages with a smile, jokes about things, and is johnny on the spot fixing our a/c or heat. I know I probably broke the thermostat in my room but he never said a word. He just fixed it. Jeff has the best sense of humor too. We recently went to a Beatles concert ( not together ha ha) but he made sure to let me know that he “ saw me” and he and his wife enjoyed my dancin’!!
Nothing phases nor surprises him and he is ready for anything that comes his way from a flooded art room to a raw sewage smell throughout the building and that’s just the beginning. Jeff Coleman is the QUINTESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ENGINEER and we get the BLESSING of him EVERY DAY.
oh jeff, where do i begin. well my senior year i took ag and greenhouse. jeff was always around helping us wether it be fixing something or cleaning. he always asked what we were doing and how we were doing. he would always come around and teach us a lot. jeff is one of the most hard working people i’ve met. he goes out of his way to help people as much as he can while making sure he’s also doing his job. jeff makes sure every student has a great day everyday. everytime i would see him in the halls outside of class he’d always joke around with me about something. wether it be i didn’t pass my test on tractor parts to i forgot to take the trash out in class. he was always interested in what we were learning in class and has taught me a lot of useful things i still use up to this day. very good man and these kids deserve to have someone like jeff around. one of a kind custodian
Jeff always calls everyone Sir or Mam. He is the most polite person I have ever met. He always goes above and beyond to help me. I have five sinks with garbage disposal that always need some attention. He never sighs or groans he just happily says I got it Mam. He is the BEST!
I have been an employee at JMHS since August 2023, which is not very long. Mr. Coleman welcomed me with open arms and told me if I needed anything just to ask! (Even if I thought his name was Joe for the longest time!) Well thats the truth, any time I need something he comes to help with a smile on his face! He helps everyone when they need him with no hesitation at all! He definitely is a jack of all trades and loves his job and the students at our school! He is very deserving of this recognition!
Jeff was one of the highlights of my day when I was in high school! Always cared so much and made sure I had a smile on my face no matter what was happening throughout the day! He’s truly one of the best at what he does and cares about not only the school, but every person in it!
Humble and Kind, the best words to describe my friend Jeff, Mr. Coleman has always been a powerful force when my classroom was housed John Marshall high school. Mr. Coleman chose to come into my classroom and work with my students who were often considered difficult and unordinary to other teachers. Mr. Jeff taught those young men and women how to behave appropriately how to work hard and how to be the kindest and most gentle soul possible, Mr. Jeff wasn't advert supporter of kids of all ages, types and sizes. His support throughout the years made my teaching career as successful as it was his help in keeping students in school and learning skills that serve them well beyond my classroom will forever be a part of his legacy at John Marshall high school. thank you Mr. Jeff for all of your service and thank you for being the best friend a teacher could ever have .

Mr. Coleman is truly a gift to JMHS. He always has a smile on his face and a kind word for students and staff in need. He and the custodians he works with keep this school clean and in working order. Whenever I ask Mr. Coleman to hang up something in my room or to modify or improve something he always gets the job done perfectly and completed by the next day! He is very deserving of this nomination and is appreciated by so many!
I can't say enough about Mr. Coleman. Hardworking, professional, and always has a smile on his face. This man is pulled in several different directions on a daily basis and somehow manages to keep everything straight. He manages his team and keep a school with over 1000 students and 100 teachers rolling smoothly on a daily basis. His upbeat tempo and personality are contagious, and it is a pleasure to call him one of my coworkers!
Mr. Coleman is truly an amazing human. He is always willing to help, even when it is not in his job description! He treats everyone like a member of his own family and leaves everything better than he found it and everyone better than he found them. Mr. Coleman is one of, if not, the most dependable, hard-working and knowledgeable people I've ever worked with. He's so kind and helpful and I'm so glad to have met him and got to know him over the past five years.
Jeff Coleman is as they say "The backbone of the school"!! Not sure how we would accomplish the things that we do in this school without his help and energy. Always has a smile on his face even though we all know that everyday cannot be perfect. Treats people the way that people should treat people.
Enough cannot be said about the work that Mr. Coleman does at JMHS. Obviously, as our maintenance man, he keeps the school operating. Jeff is the man who fixes our squeaky doors, keeps our classrooms warm in the winter and cool on the hot days. He is a force of one in a building with 1100 students and 120 faculty and staff. It is not uncommon to see Mr. Coleman interacting with the students at lunch or in the halls. He is first to welcome the special needs kids to breakfast each morning. Jeff ALWAYS has a smile on his face and a great attitude. When told to have a great day his famous words are "They are all great days." No matter what is asked of Mr. Coleman he does it with complaint. I don't know what we would do without Mr. Coleman in our school.
Jeff Coleman is THE BEST! He works so hard to keep our school running smoothly, and he does so every day with a smile (even when he's over 20,000 steps for the day!) If you've got a problem, he will solve it. If you need a certain tool to put together a piece of furniture, he will bring it to you and offer to put the furniture together for you. Jeff is our go-to guy, and he is always there for the students and staff at John Marshall. He definitely deserves this award!
I transferred to John Marshall at the beginning of this school year. One of the first people I met was Mr. Coleman. With taking over a new classroom, there were many things that myself and my aides wanted to change. Mr. Coleman met every one of our requests with a smile and had the work finished as quickly as possible. This trend has continued throughout the year whenever we have requests. As a teacher of students with special needs at JM, I also have the pleasure of watching Mr. Coleman interact with my students on an almost daily basis. I wish that I could show pictures of the smiles on the faces of some of my students whenever Mr. Coleman walks through our classroom door!! That would say it all!!!
Jeff Coleman is an unbelievable asset to John Marshall High School. He is readily available to assist in any way that he is needed, from hanging plaques on the wall to moving the band truck to be loaded and everything in between. He treats everyone with kindness and respect no matter how busy he is. He knows every facet of the school and the programs, which makes him truly indispensable.

Jeff Coleman is the absolute BEST! He wears so many hats, and does each of his jobs superbly. He always has a smile on his face and meets and greets everyone while doing so with a smile. He is always so exceedingly polite, pleasant, and professional. To grab a quote from one of my colleagues, every single school needs a Mr. Coleman. I don’t think that our school could run on a day-to-day basis without him, but when he does it, with such genuine, enthusiasm and kindness, it takes it to a whole other level. We appreciate you. Mr. Coleman was a custodian when I was at John Marshall High School 2016-2020. He stayed after school hours and came in on weekends to help me with a research project I was completing! He was awesome and always willing to answer any questions I have. He deserves this more than anyone!
