Becky works tirelessly for the students, families, and staff of the Bowling Green School District. She has always been amazing at building relationships with students and families which in turn, provides a strong culture of trust. Not only that, but she makes herself available day or night for situations that our students face. The district and community are fortunate and blessed to have Becky on the staff. Becky is quite deserving of this award!

Becky is one of a kind! She goes above and beyond for every single person she comes in contact with! When she gets a text or call anytime of day or night she jumps into action. For example sitting with a student that is alone at the hospital at 2am.

Becky goes above and beyond to help ANYONE. She has the biggest heart for kids. Her sincere benevolence has taken her from slums of Africa to the small towns of Missouri. Becky fights for the well being of children. Our school district is so fortunate to have her helping the homeless, the emotionally unstable, and the weak. Her assistance makes kids strong again.

Becky's commitment to children, families, and community is unquestionable. Becky has a selflessness about her that we could all learn from. I am proud to have her on our team and know she will do whatever she can to fulfil the needs of those around her.

Becky is for sure a life changer! She goes above and beyond for every single person she comes in contact with. Whenever she gets a call or text she is there for whatever the need is. For example sitting at the hospital at 2am with a student that don't gave anyone to sit with him.

Since Becky started working at Bowling Green R-1 school district there have been so many great additions for our students due to her determination and passion to help our students and their families. Several years ago Becky worked alongside an organization called, Landon's Helping Paws to provide a therapy dog to help our students. Becky teaches our students proper manners to use around dogs and what benefits we can reap through a therapy dog. She teaches them the science behind the social interaction between humans and pets can increase the feel good hormone, oxytocin. Becky encourages students to pet and visit with Wilma when they're dysregulated. Wilma is a motivator for students to come into the building on a rough morning and some students earn time with her for being successful in the classroom. Because of Becky's work to get Wilma here we are seeing positive changes with our students and growth on a daily basis.

I love when she brings Wilma in and visits our classroom. When she visits it just makes me happy and makes the class happy. I just love when she comes in and teaches us things

Maggie (Age 11) Posted over a year ago

When people get to school she just brightens up their day by dancing, singing, or just talking to them.

Harper (11) Posted over a year ago

When she sees someone sad or down, she always checks to make sure they’re okay. She will talk to them if they are sad and help them feel better.

Addy (Age 11) Posted over a year ago

Every day when someone is having a birthday she either is in the hallway or outside and she always sings happy birthday with a beautiful smile on her face, and is very nice. She treats others with respect and she always has a good attitude and when we are feeling lonely her and Wilma will come to us and help us feel better. She is a real, true, leader!

Maddox (Age 11) Posted over a year ago

She has the smile that when you walk in from the bus or pick up lines and you don’t have a good attitude, her smile will give you a good attitude. She comes up with fun dances that will make you feel like you have another friend.

I have met a lot of amazing people in my life, but I can't think of one that changes more lives on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis than Becky Orf. As a social worker at our school, she goes out of her way many times a day to make sure that student's basic needs are met. She pays utility bills for families, she provides food and clothing for students, does well checks at homes, gives student's rides to school, and even opens her own home to students who are removed from unsafe situations. Not only does she make sure they have what they need, but makes sure they know they are loved by her! She doesn't only change the lives of students in our community, but adults as well. I can personally say that Becky has made me a better human. When talking with Becky, she often makes me rethink situations and to see other people's perspectives. She has brought a light into my life that makes me think before I judge, that most situations aren't as they appear on the outside. She is always finding the good in people and each and everyday I strive to live more like Becky Orf. I can' t imagine a more deserving individual to be recognized as a life changer!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Becky for the past several years. Becky always shows compassion and would give the shirt off her back for any family in need. I’ve witnessed many moments that Becky has changed the life of troubled teens struggling to find their way. Becky has also made my job easier knowing that I have her as a resource for students. I cannot think of a more deserving person for this award. Our school and community is lucky to have her!

Sara Grote Posted over a year ago

Becky goes above and beyond to help anyone in need. When our daughter Molly had to have multiple heart surgeries and we had to travel to another state for our daughter to have this heart surgery, Becky went above and beyond to help us with travel expenses and that was just the most thoughtful heartfelt thing to do. She has helped so many families in our community. She is just the most caring giving person I know. She is very dedicated to the children at school and in the community. Thank you Becky for all you do.

What can I say that could sum up how much of a life changer Becky Orf is? Well it would take a book. I met her when she brought people together to serve meals and collect needed items for a nearby homeless population over 13 years ago. From that moment on I witnessed her serving others and striving to help others be their best, to see all of their potential in themselves. I don't think most people know all of the things she does to help others. Yes, some of the things are part of her job but she does so much more! Showing up for kids that are struggling at school and home, families in need. I have witnessed her helping a family get shelter for their family, secure jobs, get to doctor appointments, find ways to get to school. She has shown up all hours of the day and night putting her own needs/schedule aside when there have been fires, deaths, accidents etc in our community. I have seen her love and encourage students in their hardest times, when you see them interact you can tell they feel seen and heard by her. When you think she possibly couldn't do more there she is. I can certainly mention how I have seen her show up for others a billion times in 13 plus years. But knowing her has changed my life as well. She taught me to see outside my personal surroundings, to step out of my comfort zone as well as cross many time zones to serve and love others together. I have opened my heart more and learned more about how to care for my patients, friends and family with trauma. Because of her I love deeper, advocate harder and see needs easier. Things in life may change but Becky showing up, empowering others, and working to make lives better everyday has always remained constant. If anyone I know deserves to be recognized as a life changer its Becky Orf. Even if she doesn't win I pray all of these comments will remind her what a treasure she is to those around her and to the whole community. I hope it brings encouragement to someone who spends their days and nights being the encourager.

Becky is certainly someone who is a life changer. From going and helping children and families at all hours, staying with them in situations where her safety even might be at risk, and always being a shoulder to cry or lean on when times are hard. She not only changes the lives of the children within our district but helps to spread the fire of inspiration to help others by showing that anyone, with the right mindset (a Becky Orf mindset) can make a HUGE difference! We are so blessed to call her ours.

I've had the great privilege of working with Becky for several years through the school counseling/student services program at the Bowling Green School District. Becky wears so many hats in the district that are critical to the students and the community. She's a social worker, a counselor, a mentor, an advocate...a leader in every sense of the word. Becky's relationships and connections bring resources to students and families, new knowledge and skills to colleagues, insights and suggestions to district and community programs. She can be pulled in a million different directions but she always has time for someone else. Becky is one of the most selfless professionals and individuals I've ever met...a beautiful and caring soul for whom "service" is her entire being.

Becky is a true LifeChanger. She works diligently to provide every student and family in our district with dignity and respect. She takes her job seriously, giving her own time- and often her own money- to make sure student needs are met. She also runs a non-profit in Congo that provides basic needs and educational services for dozens of orphaned and vulnerable children. She truly is an asset to our community and is so deserving of this award!

Becky is one of a kind! She is compassionate, caring, understanding, solution focused, and so loving! She truly cares about everyone, especially children near and far! Her ability to help so many people is something truly admirable. She is also very helpful. From giving advice, helping students who may be struggling mentally or emotionally, to organizing huge amazing events such as cultural fairs, she is always there and does it all with no need for recognition. She is a blessing to not only our school district but to our community and all those that know her!

A couple of years ago when I was managing the local head start there was a fire at the apartment building across the street and we had students and families effected as did the local elementary school where Becky is the social worker. She showed up at 7:00 that morning and stayed with the families affected all day. When we received clearance to go in the building to get items from the apartments that were salvageable she helped late into the day. Then she worked all day to make sure the families had a place to go that evening and even drove one of the families to the local hotel for shelter. She took them to Walmart to get supplies and continued to offer support into the coming weeks. She is a true champion for children.

Katie Kessler Posted over a year ago

Where to start. Becky is the most selfless individual besides giving of herself everyday to support our school, she gives tirelessly to support our students our community the orphanage she helps run in the Congo as well as her children. If you look up superhero in the dictionary there would be a picture of Becky Orf!

Selfless, kind and compassionate are 3 works that only begin to describe Becky. I could go on for days and days, she is a pillar in the social work/ counseling community that we should all strive to be like. It is an honor to know her and her family, and a privilege to work with her. She goes above and beyond to ensure every child’s needs are met in every way she can, whether that be shoes, a shower, a meal or a safe place to sleep. She works hard to help, as well as honor families and children and leave them in a little better place than when she found when as well as with dignity and respect.
