Amanda McCray was nominated by her colleague, LaTosha Bennett.

"I have known Amanda for seven years now. During this time, we have worked together inside and outside the classroom. She is a nurturing mother, loyal friend, valued colleague, excellent teacher, and so much more. Her students and their families know they can rely on her to be fair, offer equitable resources to accommodate the learning process, and go above and beyond when advocating for them. Her teaching environment is safe and inclusive, as well as fun," said Bennett.

This year, she continues her educational role as a math interventionist. Research shows that since the pandemic, students worldwide have continued to experience deficits in math. Knowledgeable of this data, Ms. McCray continues reflecting on what strategies can yield better results for the students she serves. Her creativity, dedication, and application have led to an increase in math scores among her students. 

"I have had the privilege of observing her and was very impressed with her exceptional skills, dedication, and passion for teaching. She was an invaluable member of the Academic and Functional Skills department. She demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment during that time. She possessed an innate ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles, making complex mathematical concepts accessible to all," said Bennett.

One of Ms. McCray's greatest strengths is her innovative and creative approach to teaching. She consistently goes above and beyond to develop engaging lesson plans and activities that enhance students' understanding of mathematical principles and cultivate a genuine interest in the subject. Her use of real-world examples and interactive teaching methods has proven highly effective in capturing students' attention and fostering a love for mathematics.

In addition to her exemplary teaching skills, she is an outstanding team player. She collaborates seamlessly with colleagues, willingly shares resources and ideas, and actively contributes to the overall improvement of the mathematics curriculum at her school. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic make her an asset to any school community.

Beyond her contributions to the classroom, Ms. McCray is also involved in special projects. She is an interior decorator and designer. Amanda ensures all her clients are happy with her products and services. She demonstrates leadership and dedication in these endeavors, further showcasing her ability to interact with others.
