"Ms. Kawka is an amazing teacher. We do lots of fun things in the classroom like making butter and dancing to Taylor Swift," stated the student. "Even though some students might not be big fans of learning about text features, Ms. Kawka works hard to teach them things that are important for being helpful members of society. She always tries her best to make learning exciting!"

I have had the pleasure of working with students in Shannon Kawka’s classroom. Her personal commitment to ensure that every students needs are met is beyond compare. Shannon always goes the extra mile. She is not only a phenomenal teacher but she takes many leadership roles among her peers. Her positive attitude is infectious. Congratulations to Shannon Kawka. In my mind she has already won.

My daughter had the pleasure of being in Mrs. Kawka's 5th grade class two years ago. She learned so much and truly loved going to school every day. Mrs. Kawka has a way of making kids learn in a way that is fun so it doesn't always feel like schoolwork. I watched my daughter excel because she was excited to learn and felt understood by Mrs. Kawka. As a parent, she was a great communicator and always kept the parents involved in what they were doing in the classroom. My daughter is in 7th grade now and still talks about her favorite 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Kawka. Congratulations on the nomination, it is well deserved.
