Music that Describes Stacie

Stacie Mitchell-Gweah was nominated by a member in the community, Donnie Centers.

"I am writing to enthusiastically nominate Stacie Mitchell-Gweah, our esteemed K-6 elementary principal and city mayor, for the prestigious Life Changer Award. Stacie has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to transforming lives and creating positive change within our community, exemplifying exceptional leadership resourcefulness, innovation, and dedication," said Centers.

"Three years ago, Stacie returned to her childhood home of Stamps, Arkansas. She has served as the principal of Lafayette County Elementary School for the last two years and the Stamps city mayor since January 2022. Stacie has not only overseen the academic growth of our students but has also spearheaded initiatives that extend far beyond the classroom walls for K-12 students in our district. Stacie launched a transformative school food pantry program to address the pervasive issue of food insecurity within our community. Through this initiative, Stacie has positively impacted countless children and families in the community. The program promotes volunteerism and civic engagement, providing local high school students a space to support fellow neighbors while also earning credits towards graduation. Stacie signed a proclamation, setting a designated date to declare the City of Stamps a drug-free community. She furthered that effort by hosting a youth alcohol and drug prevention conference and a three-day spring break camp. All activities were provided to kids and families free of charge," said Centers.

"As mayor of Stamps, in her first eleven months, Stacie has worked collaboratively with a grant writer to secure more than $253,000 in grants. These grants will directly enhance youth programs offered by the city, including funding youth job readiness programs and park and recreation projects. Her dedication to exploring alternative funding sources has proven invaluable, ensuring that our city remains at the forefront of progress and innovation," said Centers.

"Student and teacher betterment is a focal point of Stacie's, and through personally-led coaching sessions and a directed focus on student attainment and accountability, the elementary school saw a five percent growth in test scores over the previous year. This accomplishment is a testament to her leadership skills, dedication to educational excellence, and innovative approaches to fostering a positive learning environment," said Centers.

"In all that Stacie does, she does so to inspire and motivate others to be their best self. She leads by example, creating a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, and continuous improvement. Her passion for education and community development has left an indelible mark on the lives of students, families, and residents alike," said Centers.

"In recognition of Stacie's outstanding contributions as a principal who has provided service above and beyond expectations, I wholeheartedly recommend her for the LifeChanger of the Year Award. She is a visionary leader whose impact extends far beyond the roles traditionally associated with education and local governance. Her dedication to making a positive difference truly deserves this esteemed honor," said Centers.

This woman is my everything, my guiding light, and my endless source of love – my mom. Words can hardly capture the depth of my gratitude for all she has done. She has not only been there for me through every up and down but has also extended her caring heart to help so many others. She volunteers her time and talents; she has served in many capacities such as youth church director, basketball mom, coach and referee, robotics team coach, business teacher in a prison program, mentor to other educators, sponsor of events and a generous donor. Her selflessness knows no bounds, and the way she has touched the lives of those around us is nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you for being my rock, my confidante, and the embodiment of unconditional love. You are not just my mom; you are a beacon of kindness and generosity. I am endlessly proud to be your son.

Beyond the classroom, she goes above and beyond to ensure I understand and appreciate the intricacies of the business world. Her guidance has not only shaped my academic journey but has also provided valuable life lessons that has helped me as a business owner. Thank you, Aunt Stacie, for being my favorite teacher and a constant source of reference and inspiration.

I wholeheartedly believe that my mom is an exceptional candidate for this award. Her unwavering support has not only shaped my life but has also touched the lives of other children in Des Moines Public School District, Ball Charter Schools in Arizona and every neighborhood we lived in. From providing emotional guidance to helping me start my own nonprofit at the age of 12, helping children and schools in Africa. She has consistently demonstrated selfless dedication and encouragement. Her impact is not just limited to our family but extends to communities in the United States and Africa. I am immensely grateful for her and believe she truly deserves to be recognized for her outstanding contributions.

Stacie has been very influential in my life and my business. She is a lady that is goal driven. She does whatever she puts her mind to. She has had the heart desires to help her community in her home town for a while. She had helped the Des Moines community with children for years. She has developed a non-profit reading for children. Stacie is a great candidate for any position.
