Music that Describes Laurie Ann

Laurie Ann Sue was nominated by Bryan Silver, a colleague

"Three Words: Joyful,  Caring, Involved," said Silver as he described Sue.

Mrs. Sue is a fantastic person who continues to serve her students well beyond the classroom. She makes special moments every day and at every high school event. Her students are community-based instruction kids working on life skills more than trying to pass the SATs. She has made sure they go to proms and a special day when they are Seniors called Senior Breakfast, where the students and teachers share memories of them on their last official day as high school students as they leave for their next adventure in life. She organized Friday Night Lights, pairing them up with basketball athletes on the high school team to help shadow the students playing the game. The program has grown to include four high schools in the area and is a big event as they all get together to play against one another. It is an excellent effort from teachers and student mentors for these students to get out there and play.

"Mrs. Sue has always been a friendly ear to talk to and with as we plan out the next crazy opportunity we wanted the kids to try out. She is an amazing teacher and friend. She has always brightened my and everyone else's day as she passes you in the halls. This remarkable person has always put in three times the amount asked of her to make magical things happen for others," stated Silver.
