Music that Describes Heidi
Heidi Thayer was nominated by her colleague, Lorrie Springer.
Ms. Thayer began her educational career as Glenburn's physical education teacher. During COVID, she was asked to cover a second-grade classroom so that the students could continue in-person instruction through the pandemic. She did so without hesitation, excelled in the position, and decided to stay as a second-grade teacher. Her dedication to her students is evident through her 'every lesson matters' approach. Her ability to turn learning into a fun activity allows each student to learn and retain the information. She has created after-school activities such as family game night, a makeshift carnival, and disco light bowling. She worked with families to provide food to those with food insecurity and developed a program called Helping Hands that lasted several years.
"She creates team building activities for staff and is our very own staff cheerleader," said Springer.
Ms. Thayer was recently recognized by WABI TV's surprise squad and Anderson by Renewal as an outstanding teacher. She goes above and beyond for the students and staff and deserves recognition for her unwavering dedication.

Heidi is such a ray of sunshine! She always puts a smile on my face because she has such a positive aura surrounding her! Having such a kind and dedicated coworker makes a great difference in our school! Her students are BEYOND blessed to have her! <3
I have not had the pleasure of working with Heidi in her class, but I am sure she is as engaging with her students as she is with the staff, they are very lucky. She is always one of the first ones in each morning, greeting everyone she see with a smile and good morning. She is always coming up with fun activities for the whole school to partake in each holiday. Her enthusiastic, bubbly personality make everyone love her. We are so lucky to have Heidi both for the students and the staff. She truly is a life changer.
Heidi is an amazing teacher! She is fun and creative and her students are so engaged in learning they don't even realize they're working. She has this magic about her- tricky students are suddenly no issue at all, and they are learning and growing and feeling good about themselves with everyone else. Heidi is a fabulous teacher, and she goes above and beyond to plan fun activities for students and staff alike! So lucky to teach alongside her!
Our school is so lucky to have Mrs Thayer teaching our students. She is absolutely amazing. The way she teaches is so engaging and so much fun. She always goes the extra mile to make sure her students enjoying learning. At times they are so engaged they don’t even realize they are learning! I am so lucky to work with her and witness her magic.
Heidi Thayer is a creative colleague and brings enthusiasm to our school environment throughout the school year! She communicates well with her families, and purposefully plans lessons and activities that prove everything is a learning opportunity. Heidi not only plans for the students within her 2nd grade classroom, she also takes the time to plan exciting activities building school community. It's a special thing when a Glenburn School alum returns to educate future leaders!

I worked with Heidi for several years at Glenburn School and she was always one of my favorite colleagues. The creativity and passion she shows in her classroom is exceptional. Many times when I heard about lessons and activities that her class was doing, I was a little jealous because they sounded amazing, even to us adults in the building! She is the kind of teacher I would have loved to have been taught by.
Not only is she an amazing teacher, she is what I feel is the heart and soul of Glenburn School. Heidi is willing to help everyone out and works hard to create fun and engaging schoolwide activities that boost morale for both staff and students. Her awesome sense of humor and straightforward manner are two of the things I love most about her.

I can't think of anyone more deserving. My daughter had her as a teacher during covid and she made what was a stressful and crazy time into the best possible experience. She is such an asset to our school and community.

Heidi Thayer is a true Leader, and a Hero.
Heidi was my daughter's teacher during COVID. She started second grade and had so much to catch up on having lost most of her first grade year.
Heidi took Mary under her wing and she blossomed under Mrs Thayer's attention. They had a special relationship and Heidi was so patient with Mary and all her challenges.

I worked with Heidi for many years at Glenburn School. I have never known a teacher with more energy and enthusiasm. She created school wide events that went so above and beyond expectations and she considered all people in her plans - kids, staff, administration. Every single person had a great time. When she moved from physical education to a classroom position, I feel like she really found her space. She designed her classroom for kids. The activities and learning experiences that I've seen have been spot on for 2nd graders. She's amazing.

Heidi is a former colleague of mine. She is absolutely one of a kind! Heidi is enthusiastic, creative, selfless, innovative, supportive, dedicated, and fun! She loves what she does and it shows! Her energy is contagious. The staff and students alike are so lucky to have her! ??
My 2 youngest kids and my grandchildren have had Heidi Thayer as a teacher, both as a phys ed teacher and as a classroom teacher. In addition, I have worked with her on Winter Carnival and Field Day activities. She is an amazing person who goes above and beyond for her students.
I was so fortunate to have had Mrs.Thayer as a physical education teacher multiple times throughout Kindergarten to 8th grade. She deeply cares for her students and is the master at integrating fun into educational experiences for students. I always looked forward to her yearly winter carnivals and field days as they provided us with an excellent opportunity to get active and create long lasting memories with classmates, teachers, and other school staff. Mrs. Thayer also created a Wellness Club where students could help organize and run events at school for students and staff that promoted health and wellness, which I was fortunate enough to be a part of in my middle school years. She is truly a one of a kind teacher and I am so thankful to have been able to learn from her!

I had Mrs.Thayer from 2003-2006 …. Long time go…. Mrs Thayer was always so caring to her students rather it’s a dodge ball or just dreading the mile run … not only she was a great PE teacher at the time she was always greeting students in the hall way and lending a hand.
Mrs Thayer is the most deserving of this award! Her ability to go above and beyond for all students at any given time is truly remarkable. ????????
