"It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I nominate Lourent Peguero, Community Liaison at Trabuco Hills High School, for the LifeChanger of the Year Award," said Lunsford. "In her part-time role, Lourent exemplifies dedication, compassion, and resourcefulness, making an extraordinary impact on the lives of our students, families, and staff. Lourent goes above and beyond to support some of our most vulnerable populations, including foster youth, multilingual learners, and McKinney-Vento students. Her contributions span a wide range of initiatives that embody her deep commitment to fostering equity and well-being within our school community."
From organizing English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings to developing family workshops and parenting sessions, Ms. Peguero creates opportunities for families to feel supported, informed, and empowered. During the holiday season, Ms. Peguero gathers resources to ensure that families in need receive the assistance they deserve. Her relentless efforts extend to classroom presentations, small group guidance lessons, one-on-one counseling, and enrollment assistance for Spanish-speaking families.
"Lourent's ability to network with community members to establish support systems for our families is remarkable. Her collaborative spirit enhances the work of the guidance department and strengthens the entire school's commitment to wellness and inclusivity. Lourent is the perfect example of love and support for those in need. With her knowledge and determination, she always cares for the students and their families at her site. She also brings resources to the community that benefit the families in her school.
She sees the opportunity and jumps right in to help. I remember a time when a group of seniors at her school needed some dresses for Prom; otherwise, they couldn't attend the school dance. Lourent immediately found ways to make these girls attend the dance despite their circumstances and made their dreams come true after finding the right attire for them.
As these, there are many ways Lourent is always helping the students feel welcomed and supported.
She deserves to be recognized for all she does at her school.
