Music that Describes Sarah
Sarah Juarez was nominated by colleague, Stacey Dallas Johnston.
"I had the honor of working with Sarah when we were both teachers at Mission Recovery High School in Las Vegas, NV. She was one of the six original teachers who opened the school. She served in every capacity imaginable at MHS: teacher, mentor, student council adviser, community service organizer, social committee, and more. Sarah is the type of person who does everything 110%, especially when it comes to supporting her students and the community. She has a philanthropic heart and never hesitates to give back to those in need in any capacity that she can. As luck would have it, we entered graduate school simultaneously, and I can say that the 2 1/2 years of seminars, classes, and homework would not have been as easy without her encouragement and friendship. In May of 2024, we walked for graduation together, and even though we are now at different schools, we talk regularly, and Sarah has remained a great friend and an inspiration," said Johnston.
Currently, Ms. Juarez is using her talents as a mentor to work with middle school students. With her strong background in restorative justice techniques, trauma-informed teaching, and continuously building relationships with students, she can serve as not only a mentor but also a trusted adult and leader to the entire school community. Her impact in guiding students not only to make positive choices but also to repair harm when needed positions her to have a widespread effect on the whole school and the community it serves.
"I am excited to see Sarah continue to grow as a leader and to continue changing lives, one student at a time," Johnston added. "She always leads with love and logic and knows the importance of treating people with respect and empathy. Sarah Juarez is a very deserving nominee for LifeChanger of the Year."
