LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Zachary Bartemy was nominated by a family member, Michael Bartemy. 

Mr. Bartemy is a LifeChanger because he is committed to the idea that every student has a unique voice, and he wants to help them find it. Mr. Bartemy is the Project Lead the Way and Pre-Engineering teacher at Somerset County Technical High School. He has a Bachelor's in Engineering from JMU and a Master's in Technical Education from UMES. He is one of two National Board Certified educators, passing all requirements in one year. He is committed to providing a pathway for all his students to become problem solvers by providing them the resources and support to develop thinking strategies to help them become first-world problem solvers. Mr. Bartemy has been the Teacher of the Year for the past two years at Somerset County Technical High School and won Teacher of the Year for the district for the 2024-2025 school year. He provides a structured learning environment for his students. He has developed partnerships with local universities, NASA Wallops Island, and other businesses to offer opportunities after high school for his students. He started the first Robotics Club for his district and has already sent students to the National Skills USA Robotics Competition. Mr. Bartemy takes the extra steps necessary to ensure his students are successful.
