Ray Johnson was nominated anonymously. 

Mr. Johnson is the head band director at St. Augustine High School and inspires current and past band members. With unwavering dedication and a passion for music, he has elevated the Marching 100 to new heights of excellence. His innovative teaching methods and commitment to discipline have maintained a strong and talented band program established by the late Mr. Edwin "Hamp" Hampton in 1952. Just this year alone, the band has performed in several Mardi Gras Parades, including ZULU, won superior rankings in the district LMEA competition, recorded a promo with PJ Morton and Dooky Chase's family for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, traveled to Normandy and Paris, France to perform during the 80th D-Day Anniversary Commemoration, as well as performed during the New Orleans Saints versus the Los Angeles Rams halftime show with Tonya Boyd-Cannon (The Voice)- to name a few.

Beyond his musical expertise, Mr. Johnson is a mentor and role model for his students. He instills in them a strong work ethic, a sense of community, and a love for music. His ability to connect with students on a personal level has created a positive and supportive learning environment. Mr. Johnson's impact extends beyond the music classroom.
