Daniel Ramirez was nominated anonymously.

"My band teacher is to be described with one word: dedicated. He is young, so he relates and jokes around with us a lot. For me specifically, however, he has inspired me to get into the band. Thanks to him, I am now in the TUSD Honor Band. I finally enjoy school a lot more. I think that Daniel Ramirez is a LifeChanger and way more than that," said the nominator.

Daniel Ramirez is an amazing young teacher. Any time I talk to him about his classes or students, he lights up. Daniel's extreme passion for music, teaching music theory is evident. Watching his students progress and succeed is number one for him! Daniel has taken many hours of his personal time to purchase and and then repair instruments for his students that cannot afford them, and also make sure there are enough instruments in his classroom. Daniel Ramirez sets the tone for these young people. I have seen several students and parents approach him after Band/Orchestra concerts to say thank you. For these reasons and more, Daniel is quite deserving of the Life Changer of the Year Award!

Daniel has always known he wanted to play the Tuba since 5th grade in order for him to get a scholarship to go to college. Daniel started with the Baratone and worked his way through Jr. High school joining the band and jazz band. In highschool, Daniel played in band, jazz band and the marching band. Daniel made a commitment to each and every event including Regionals and did not miss one. In college Daniel decided he wanted to teach middle school kids and share the love he has for music. Daniel's first year as a band teacher was the first time the kids had an opportunity to join when he started the program. Daniel's second year of teaching, his class size doubled and he started the orchestra program. The current class sizes have more than tripled as he gains more and more interested students. During the summer Daniel started a chest club for any student that was interested, and competed along side them in different competitions. The respect that Daniel has gained with each and every child is unfounded as well as the commitment to instilling the knowledge and love for music. For each band and orchestra classes, the recruitment is done solely by the students telling other students how great the teacher and class are.

Mr. Daniel Ramirez is a hip music teacher who relates to his students in more ways than just music. Being a young teacher, he relates in the way his students progress, and that mirrors the type of teacher he is. He will not let his students experience anything that he knows they will fail at. Instead he gives them the tools that he has taken through his entire music career and has them use those tools to succeed and master what they came so far to learn. For this, he is most deserving of the life changer of the year award.
