Kristi Hall was nominated by a colleague, Belinda Payne.

"Recently, we had our annual Elf Adventure for Fentress County. Ms. Kristi called me about participating in the Christmas Parade. She wanted to theme our float to the Elf Adventure. Kristi planned everything. She also wanted to make sure every child had the opportunity to participate. She not only wanted to promote and support a huge reading opportunity for the students in Fentress County, but she also wanted to be a part of ensuring things got to the students at the parade by throwing packets with what they needed to be able to participate," said Payne.

"She also, for the first time, had an elf at the Board of Education. Her husband's business has participated every year. We celebrate at the end of the month-long event. Ms. Kristi purchased prizes for the event. She had planned to attend the event. On the morning of our event, she called with a personal issue that had impacted her day," said Payne.

"She is the director of schools; she cared so much about an event that emphasized family and reading. Kristi wanted to promote, support, and attend it not because of her position but because she had a heart like no one I have ever worked with or for. Sometimes, a position can change the real reason why we do what we do. I'm very thankful I work with someone who has not forgotten about the children she is making decisions for," said Payne.
