Music that Describes Tonya
Tonya Holliday was nominated by a colleague, Dr. Torrence Williams.
"I have been in education for the past 15 years; I have gleaned a wealth of information from many individuals in my tenure. However, when I think about individuals who did not just teach me but demonstrated who I needed to be for children in our community, Mrs. Tonya Aaron Holliday consistently rises to the top," said Williams.
With nearly 25 years of experience in education, Mrs. Holliday continues to evolve and grow, benefiting both the children she serves and the educators she collaborates with.
"I can recall during our first year of being in the same building, I was the principal, and she was the instructional coach. She knew far more about our work in early childhood than I could ever learn! She would consistently challenge me about how we should be supporting the educators in the building to do what was best for children. When I questioned why a teacher was doing something a certain way or why something was operating in a manner that did not seem efficient, she would remind me with grace and softness about the learning process for students. I always left with a lesson," said Williams.
Beyond her exceptional people skills and operational expertise in early childhood education, Mrs. Holliday is also a master of curriculum and instruction. She holds a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and has completed 30 additional hours to earn her Reading Specialist Certification. She skillfully combines theory with practical experience to guide the work happening in her school. Mrs. Holliday is known for thoroughly studying the instructional materials implemented and strategically pairing them with high-impact teaching strategies to ensure educators and students receive the support needed to achieve mastery.
"This year, Bain Lower Elementary was recognized as a School of Excellence for its diligence in growing students in foundational reading. Though this was a collective effort, Mrs. Holliday ensured students got the high-dosage literacy tutoring they needed and deserved. Mrs. Holliday is the kind of educator we read about in books or see in triumph stories in film. She deserves to be celebrated and shared with educators and students worldwide," said Williams.
I have worked with Mrs. Tonya Holliday for eleven years across her various roles at Bains Lower, and throughout that time she has consistently demonstrated strong experience and dedication in everything she does. From supporting instruction to leading at the school level, she has always been focused on ensuring students learn what they need to be successful and prepared for the next level. Tonya leads with focus, purpose, and compassion, ensuring instruction is thoughtful and responsive to students’ needs. Her ability to analyze data, guide instructional decisions, and support targeted interventions has had a positive impact on student achievement and schoolwide growth. I believe her commitment to best practices and genuine concern for others has helped create an environment where educators feel supported, students feel valued, and families feel confident in the education and care their children receive. Mrs. Tonya Holliday is truly a LifeChanger!
Tonya is one of the most selfless people I know. She is also kind and generous to all she encounters. I have know Tonya for at least 20 years and in that time, she has always been the same person…a joy to be around. A matter of fact, I don’t think I have ever heard Tonya raise her voice…always soft spoken, genuine, and positive.
Mrs. Aaron changed my life the very first day I met her. I had the best opportunity of my lifetime just being able to work alongside her. She is a very strong leader, and she deserves this recognition because she strives to ensure that every person she comes in contact with is “doing alright.” Mrs. Aaron made me feel as if i was the most important person in the world whenever she would come and check on me EVERYDAY. She treated me with respect and kindness. She never treated anyone any differently just because they were “friends.” Mrs Aaron always remained professional. Thats why i love her so much. She treated me as her child. She shared her similar life experiences with me, and she always made sure that my kids and i had everything we needed. I believe Mrs Aaron’s purpose is to positively change peoples lives. Im now a happy and grateful person because of her. Thank you for everything Mrs. Aaron! You are so amazing. I will forever appreciate you. Love you!
