Ms. Johnson is amazing! She supports youth, our community, and her colleagues with her enthusiasm, smile, music, dance routines, costumes, wicked sense of humor, and perseverance. Her role is challenging yet she always finds a way to make magic happen. Need pads? A backpack? A winter coat? A snack? Ten minutes of peace? She'll hook you up. Need a sounding board? Need advice? She's there. Want to vent? She's a safe person. Every day she works to meet students' needs then empower them. She promotes voice and choice, helping kids navigate hardships and come out as impressive young adults. She is truly a blessing to our students, an asset to our community, and an inspiration, changing lives every day.

My sister Kim is someone I am always so proud of and inspired by how much love she pours into the kids at her school and the passion she holds for what she does. She gives all she can to make each day a great day, inspire positive growth and change with the students, and is such a grounding person to have in your life. I cannot be more proud of her and all her hard work. Go Kimmy!!

Kim is one of the MOST compassionate people I’ve ever met. She gives from her heart AND her wallet. As the school social worker, she created a “safe place” with bean bags, twinkle lights and couches in her office, in the school, for students to come for support and love, which they do! She gives of her time by volunteering to help with functions such as chaperoning and decorating school dances, for school events, taking trips with them like Senior Cedar Point day, traveling with the culinary team to Houston for the national culinary competitions annually, she helps with parades and decorating floats. Kim established a “free clothes closet” (which has turned into TWO full rooms) in the basement of the school, where students can find clothing, shoes, outerwear, prom dresses etc. She used social media to request help from the community to help fill those rooms and many people were so moved by her mission, they now help her receive, organize and hang or display the items received. Kim regularly attends conferences around the state to learn how to better help and support youth in and out of the school environment. Kim deserves recognition and I certainly hope you give her strong consideration.

Kimmy is a soul of our school. Her love of students and staff shines bright. Her room is a space for students to recharge and reset. She created the Grizzly clothing boutique for students to get clothing and accessories. Every year she is the high school point person for holiday needs for our students and families. I can’t say enough good things about this amazing human.

I love Kimmy and her beautiful heart! She’s an incredible human who genuinely cares about her students. They always give her hugs and feel comfortable to be around her, stopping into her room to chat. She’s upbeat and positive. You can’t help but be happy just being around her!

Kimmy Johnson is a change-maker. She connects easily with her students, developing trusting relationships that help them feel safe and seen. Kimmy does not do the work for her students, she encourages them to build the self-advocacy and communication skills that will help them overcome barriers and feel they are moving forward. She lives in the community where she practices, understands the resources available, and actively works to connect her students with whatever resources will help them, including healthcare, clothing, food and mental health support. Kimmy is a true gem, invaluable to her school community.

Kimmy goes above and beyond for her students every single day. She creates an environment where kids truly enjoy coming to school, and that joy shows in everything she does. She earns respect by giving it freely and by setting the highest expectations in the most caring way. Kimmy, you are truly one of the great ones, the kind of teacher who makes a lasting difference.

I met Kimmy in college, in English class. I sat right next to her. Her energy was pure and kind. Since then, I have always had respect for her, especially in the field of Human Service. She works hard for the kids in the community and make sure they are heard. She's one of the the kindest people I know.

Kim started an "adopt a senior" program during my daughter Mallory's covid senior year in 2020- bringing joy to seniors- coming to the house with a little car parade, posters celebrating her and fun college send off gifts. It was really meaningful and a nice surprise. She is always thinking of ways to give back to students. She would be so deserving of this award!

Kimmy has inspired in a million ways. Leaving highschool my plans were to go into education but it shifted quickly because I wanted to leave more of an impact on the youth community. I am now in school for social work and work as a youth intervention specialist. Kimmy is the most genuine, loving, passionate, & hardworking person I have ever met. She loves and cares for the students as if they were her own. She has created an entire clothes room closet that she set up by herself. Receiving hundreds of donations. Even when she’s not working she’s working. Reaching out to the Ypsi community to receive donations, helping families during times of homelessness, organizing and setting up the clothes room… the list can go on and on. Kimmy is the definition of a social worker.

I believe in my heart that Kimmy should win the life changer of the Year award. She truly cares about her kids and has changed some lives. Every school should be as lucky to have a mentor such as Kimmy ??

Kimmy is incredible. She was the only social worker in a building of 600 students last year, trying her best to make sure our students are housed, fed, have clothing that they feel confident in, and everything they needed to feel supported. She is one of a kind, her whole existence radiating love and compassion for "the most magical babies in the universe." She deserves this so, so much.
