Katrina Selle was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Selle leads a specialized K–5 program called BASE (Behavior, Academic, Social, Emotional) designed for students who need additional support beyond the general education setting. Her classroom is intentionally structured to be a safe, welcoming, and supportive space where students can rebuild trust in adults, learn to regulate emotions, and develop the confidence to succeed both behaviorally and academically. Working alongside a dedicated team, including a mental health specialist and four special needs assistants, Ms. Selle provides individualized care rooted in empathy and structure. Her classroom features specialized zones such as an Academic Zone for focused learning, a calming Sensory Room, and a Regulation Area for movement and reflection. These thoughtfully designed spaces allow the team to meet each student’s unique needs in real time. At the heart of her work is the belief that strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of all growth. Her classroom is not only a place of learning, but of healing, support, and hope for students who need it most.
