Clarity Sayre was nominated by her principal, Dr. Lanor Payne.

"As the principal of Michelle Obama ECAC, I enjoy having Clarity on the teaching team for Preschool," said Dr. Payne. "Clarity has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. Her ability to connect with her students and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. She also has excellent written and verbal communication skills with both parents and teachers."

"Clarity also impressed me with her commitment to lifelong learning. She successfully collaborated with her mentor, took advantage of several professional development opportunities offered in the district, and recently joined the school leadership team," Dr. Payne continued.

Ms. Sayre goes out of her way to elicit feedback from her students, inviting them to share their feedback at all times. It’s this commitment to growth and her students’ well-being that makes her an outstanding educator who empowers her students. She is charismatic and creative, and she thinks outside the box. She has shown excellent classroom management skills and developed a rapport with students, colleagues, and parents that is characterized by mutual respect.

Ms. Clarity...what can one say about this AMAZING teacher and colleague. For one she is a good ascent to the Michelle Obama school family and we appreciates all that she does. She too is one of the best teachers at Michelle Obama Early Childhood. Clarity is the type of preschool teacher that we all wanted growing up. Her devotion to her students success is phenomenal. And any parent that has a child in her classroom can definitely see how much time and effort, she puts into their child's learning. And those are just a few reasons why Ms. Clarity has my vote for Life Changer of the Year! #LCOY

It is a pleasure and privilege to add my support for Clarity Sayre's nomination for Life Changer of the Year. I have known Clarity for more than 10 years and as a consultant in a state-wide early childhood program, I have had the opportunity to visit her classroom many times typically for several hours at a time. Clarity is one of the most talented, gifted, competent, and dedicated teachers I have known. Clarity is a consummate professional who is always working to enhance her knowledge and skills. Her classroom reflects excellence in all aspects of programming -- the physical environment, learning experiences for children, and adult-child interactions. One of Clarity's strengths is her ability to support children's academic skill development within the context of activities and experiences that engage and challenge them. Clarity relates to children in a positive, genuine manner. She is a wonderful language model and is very skilled in facilitating children's vocabulary development and conversation. Clarity is a master at behavior management with a wide repertoire of strategies to help children manage their behavior appropriately and resolve social conflicts. She is especially effective in supporting children with children with special behavioral needs. The overall tone of Clarity's classroom is one of respect and trust.

Clarity is a breath of fresh air! She is very passionate about teaching and learning. She is always very early to school and often stays late preparing lessons for her scholars. While in the halls she is always holding a conversation with her scholars and the students are responding. Clarity also volunteers in the garden area.

It is a privilege to be able to add my support for Clarity Sayre as the LifeChanger of the year. I have been a colleague, friend, and neighbor of Ms. Sayre for more than 12 years. In 2006, she was a preschool teacher at South Side Day Nursery (SSDN) which is now SouthSide Early Childhood Center. She created an atmosphere that supported families and encouraged parent involvement. Ms. Sayre’s love of reading was shared daily with children and parents and she created an environment in which the education of young children was nurtured and supported. She always took the extra time and effort needed to talk with a family about their child, or help connect the family to needed community resources. She had a positive impact on the lives of many children and their families at SSDN. I know that she has made a difference in every classroom in which she has taught. Since I am also Ms. Sayre’s neighbor, I know she spends countless hours at home making educational resources for her students and gathers and purchases additional items based on the interests of her students in order to actively engage each student in active learning each day. She engages in conversations with neighborhood children and has actively involved them in painting large garden pots where flowers and vegetables are seen growing each year. Ms. Sayre is a lifelong learner who advocates daily through word and deed for each of us to do what we can to support all children and their families. As a friend, she has been a life changer for my family.

It has been a pleasure working with Ms. Clarity. I enjoy how she brings the excitement every day to her classroom. Clarity always has a smile her willingness to go the extra mile not only with her students but her colleagues as well. Clarity has away to bring a child who may be struggling rather it be behavior, achieving academic goals or building relationships with their peers or adults to reach their highest potential. She loves what she does so much and it shows through her students everyday.

Clarity is an awesome teacher I have known her for 6 years . She was my teacher assistant, we were a great team because she has strong collaboration skills, innovative ideas and she is a life long learner. Since then, she completed her degree and is now a teacher at the ECAC. I am so proud of her and wish her the best as she continues her education and one day fulfill her passion of being a reading specialist.

Clarity works harder than any teacher in our building. She’s consistently the first time they’re in the last to leave. Clarity strives to teach children the project approach to develop higher levels of DOK in her scholars.
