LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Ida Perkins was nominated by a colleague, Misty Butler.

Ms. Perkins can be described as resilient, dedicated, and hardworking. She has been teaching for over 40 years. Ms. Perkins has dedicated her life to her profession and her students. Not only has she had perfect attendance almost every year, but she has also done so while she was undergoing cancer treatments. Ms. Perkins shows up for her students and staff every day with a smile on her face and a warm welcome to everyone, despite all of the hardships she has endured.

"Over the last few years, it has been my immense pleasure to get to know Ms. Perkins and the genuinely gracious, resilient, courageous, and kind woman she is. She goes above and beyond for our students. She works long days on top of being a teacher as the leader of our before and after school program, yet she still manages to single-handedly put together our yearly Field Day for the staff and students. Ms. Perkins is a blessing to our school and community, and I hope she knows how valued and appreciated she is," said Butler.
