Ms. Dessert is a LifeChanger because she always puts students first. She cares about the needs of every single student and pushes them to be the best versions of themselves. She also cares deeply about all of her colleagues and inspires them to show up and be the best versions of themselves! On top of all of that, she is seriously one of the funniest, most genuine people to be around. She lights up every room she’s in and makes people laugh!
Ms. Desert is an amazing PE teacher always bringing positivity and excitement to school! My daughter loves her and has fun learning & growing in her class! We’re all so lucky to have her at our school!
Mrs. Dessert really embodies what it means to be a life changer. She has a natural ability to connect with students, making every lesson engaging, encouraging, and fun. Her positive energy and patience help students feel confident in trying new activities, and she creates an environment where all kids feel included and valued. Through her work, she not only teaches physical skills, but also important life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and self-confidence. She consistently goes the extra mile for both staff and students. She is always willing to lend a hand, step in where needed, or offer support without being asked. She is also able to easily lighten the mood in any situation and just has the best sense of humor. Her impact reaches far beyond PE class, and her dedication truly makes her deserving of recognition as a life changer!

Great educators impact their students in a positive way, long after they have left their classroom. Jessica's intentionally and compassion with her students and her fellow colleagues exemplifies this longevity of influence intimately. Students will fondly remember PE with her because they were seen and heard and they had FUN in her precense! Her beautiful harmony of firm, respectful classroom management and witty warmth shows us that dozens of kids merrily throwing dodge balls at one another doesn't have to be stressful or chaotic; but rather it can be a space where athleticism is honed and energy is burned and kids simply can be their creative, silly, special selves. What a blessing she is to each cohort of students that passes through her gymnasium, and we as her colleagues to learn from her wise example. Jessica, you are a life changer, and thank you for answering the calling to nurture our next generations as an exceptional teacher.
You would know Jessica is a LifeChanger the moment you meet her. Before I even met her, I heard stories about her from a co-worker I use to work with at a different school. These stories were about her passion to always do what is best for kids, her love of teaching physical education to her students and her wit and humor. When I got the pleasure to be on the same staff as Jessica, I instantly knew these stories were true. Every year my students love to go to PE and come back from class telling me all the cool activities they did in Ms. Dessert's class. She has a sense of humor that my sixth graders love and also a perfect management style that keeps the kids engaged in all they do in her class. Aside from all the awesome things she does within the school, Jessica is also someone you can go to just to share what is on your mind. She has a realistic, down to Earth apporoach that I appreciate. We can talk about our families, basketball drills to work on for our school team and practical jokes we could plan to pull on other staff members. Ms. Dessert would be the perfect person to win this LifeChanger award! Congrats on being a nominee.
Jessica is truly a bright light to everyone who crosses her path. Her energy, positivity, and big smile are contagious, you can’t help but feel better just being around her. It is easy to see that Jessica Dessert loves her job, and that the people around her love having her there. P.E. class can’t be mentioned without an explosion of excitement from the students because they know that Ms. Dessert makes sure they find joy and fun in exercise. She loves hard, and tells each kid that tomorrow is a new day - ensuring they always get a fresh start with her. She’d be there in a heartbeat for any staff member in need, and would be the first one to provide some comic relief. Jessica is definitely a life changer!!
Jessie is so deserving of the LifeChanger award because she is impacting lives every single day. She is there for not only her students but also for her colleagues. She is the ultimate “Yes person” and will help however she can. Not to mention, she has the best sense of humor and tells you what you need to hear. I am so lucky I get to work with her everyday!

It is rare to have a teacher that empowers you. If you are lucky, you have a handful of teachers that you remember truly shaped the trajectory of your life. A delicate balance of empathy, accountability, encouragement and humor are essential qualities of an outstanding and impactful teacher. I have had the honor of being friends with Jessica for over 40 years and I have witnessed first-hand how she consistently embodies these attributes with her family, friends and above all, her students. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Jessica Dessert for most of our lives. Reading the above post, I can’t help but think, “yep…she is emphatically this and yet so much more.” I can’t say enough about the leadership she possesses to positively impact young people. She has an ability to connect, use compassion, common sense and yes, somehow with so much humor! She has a unique way to guide youth that would be hard to match. She is a special human being and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of such an acknowledgment.
