Dr. Mahon is nationally recognized for his exceptional contributions to teaching, research, and community engagement in economics. Passionate about the intersection of economics and technology, he has been at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence tools into economic education to enhance student learning and analytical skills. His classes are known for blending theory with hands-on applications, preparing students to understand and navigate the evolving global economy.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Mahon was a recipient of the President's Innovation Fund and worked to integrate a chatbot on monetary policy in the economics curriculum. He recently presented at the American Economic Association Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) in Denver. His presentation was entitled "Research on the Economic Preconceptions of College Students." His students are currently participating in Bloomberg's 2025 Global Trading Challenge, where they will compete against other top students around the world to experience firsthand what real-world investing looks and feels like.
