Ron Villone was nominated by his colleague, Tina Rauscher. 

Mr. Villone is sunshine. His exceptional skills are many: his enthusiasm, dedication, compassion, altruism, and collegiality are paramount. His commitment to his students is epitomic: a three-sport coach for many years, current Senior Class Advisor, and voice on too many teacher committees to count. His voice booms from the gymnasium, encouraging his students to engage. Amazingly, his actions speak even louder than his words.

The impact he has on his students, athletes, and council members is immeasurable. When asked by a colleague how he fosters such strong relationships with each of his students, he answered simply and honestly: "I learn a new thing about a student every day." His desire to not only see his students but to make the kids feel seen is present outside the walls of the gyms, outside the confines of the classrooms, outside the boundaries of the council meetings.

"A few years ago, there was a band and choral performance during the school day. Mr. Villone brought his classes to attend, and at the end of the performance, he waited around. I then watched as Villone approached the music students as they descended the stairs from the stage: Mr. Villone met every one of them with a high-five, telling them what a wonderful job they did," said Rauscher. "Mr. Villone seeks connection and collaboration during a time when both of those facets are needed more than ever."

When people are asked about the teacher who meant the most to them, often the response includes someone who has made a difference. At Pascack Valley, Mr. Villone makes a difference in the lives of many, every single day. Just mention his name to anyone in the community and watch the smile that brightens their face: evidence that he made them feel as special as he truly is. The respect and admiration he has earned from students, his colleagues, support staff, and administrators only speak to who he is and what he stands for. Pascack Valley is a better place because of Mr. Villone.
