Rocio Martinez was nominated by her colleague, Gabriela Meza.
Rocio Martinez is a garden champion, Lego coach for over 5 years, and after school program coordinator.
Over her last 7 years as a teacher, I’ve seen from a firsthand perspective how my Mom, Ms. Rocio Martinez, embodies a real LifeChanger teacher. Every time that I visit her classroom I have been able to notice how students transform their bilingual development to the extent that some of her students learn to read in Spanish (which is insane in Pre-K!), as well as a great change of character that will set them up in the future because they set foot in my Mom’ classroom. I’ve also been excited to notice how she is able to maintain invaluable relationships with the parents of her students, not only because of her caring personality, but an everlasting impact that the parents recognize on their children’s lives (trust me, I’m not coming up with this, I’ve seen it and heard it). Outside the classroom, my Mom arrives home past 7:00 pm nearly every day because of her dedication to after-school learning in LEGO Robotics, and the ABC Program to ensure that students get their chance to enrich their learning beyond the classroom. I also remember her mentioning the idea of setting up a garden at her school, and even though I thought it was crazy; however, I regret to have that thought as her dedication and initiative turned her into a key member of the school committee that partnered with one of Dallas’ biggest non-profits, and successfully set up the school garden within the same year the idea was originated. And up to this point, I have no doubt that my Mom is in the right position to be considered the LifeChanger of the year.

Ms. Martinez’s greatest impact comes from the strong relationships she builds with her students and their families. Her genuine care, communication, and partnership with families create a nurturing environment where students feel supported and confident to grow.
She is also a passionate advocate for our school garden, playing a key role in its continued growth and success. Her commitment to this space reflects her belief in hands-on learning, responsibility, and connection to the world around us. In all that she does, Ms. Martinez goes above and beyond, serving as a true example of dedication and excellence.

Superb teacher. We’ve had the pleasure of having her as a prek teacher for both of my boys. She’s a loving teacher and goes above and beyond to share all these special moments with us parents as first timers. My sons were always happy to go to school to learn with her. My oldest still remembers his moments in her classroom. Thank you for all that you do for all our kiddos:)

I am proud of her being my son’s PreK teacher! She taught us so much, and I say US not just him because she taught us how to be better instructors to our son on helping him with the things he couldn’t understand. His Spanish is getting better and the trust we have in her to keep him in the after school program always makes me feel better. She always comforted me as a first time mom that it’s okay for him to become independent slowly. She’s literally AMAZING!

A educator who teaches with patience and empathy takes the time to understand where each learner is starting from. She listen without judgment, explain concepts calmly, and never make students feel rushed or inadequate. she is always on the go ready to bring help and support to whoever needs it.

Ms. Martinez! Wow what can I say about her! A lot! I love her she is the best teacher my daughter ever had. When she was her teacher I was so happy and excited for her because she assured me that my daughter will have fun and learn a lot! Also I was very excited for my daughter learning Spanish since she only spoke English. She made sure she came out of prek4 speaking Spanish till this day she has so much love for her, and she is now in 2nd grade

This woman is always on the front line, creating ways to be of service to others. She may be a Pre-k Teacher, but there isn't a student or parent who doesn't know her. She is literally a part of everything at the school. She connects the community to the school by collaborating with different organizations and groups to come in & teach the after school program students different life skills. She's proficient at combining learning with fun, so much so that the students don't even realize that they're still being taught. She has the friendliest, most warm disposition about herself, making everyone that she comes in contact with feel welcomed, and like they belong. She is deserving of this title for so many different reasons. To name a few, she's sweet, caring, helpful, dependable, and trustworthy.
Rocio is an amazing educator. She creates unique and educational activities for her students daily. She is a devoted educator and a positive influence on our campus.

Ms. Martinez participates in different after school programs at our school, which provide our elementary students from PreK to 5th grade the opportunity to experience hands-on activities for gardening and robotics, among other programs.

Rocio is very active and is involved in many after school programs. She provides and supports many students with extra knowledge need to succeed. She spends many of her weekends supporting and helping the students with Robotics, Gardening and many other programs she volunteers for.
