LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Rachel Kahoalii was nominated by her principal, Michael Murphy.

For the past 23 years, Ms. Kahoalii has served Newark’s youth in a myriad of capacities that include Activities Director, Head Softball Coach, and teacher. During her tenure, her teams have won 9 MVAL Championships and have made NCS playoffs for each year she has coached. While serving in this capacity, Ms. Kahoalii oversees Champions of Character, a program where student-athletes focus on the attributes necessary for success within athletics and beyond the classroom.

Below are a few of her accomplishments during her tenure:

• Newark USD 2015-16 Teacher of the Year 
• Chairperson/Director for the Newark Ring of Honor Athletics Hall of Fame 
• 2022-23 Athletic Director of the Year by the California State Athletic Directors Association (CSADA) 

As one who effectively demonstrates servant leadership, Ms. Kahoalii oversees the community Toy Drive, Special Olympics, and represents the district's interests when meeting with other athletic officials at the state level.
