LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Geraldine Valencia was nominated by her colleague of a couple years, Shayne Greenland.

"Mrs. Valencia is one of the most exceptional teachers and colleagues I have encountered during my time as an educator and an administrator at Campbell High School," said Greenland. "I was not surprised to find out she is a workaholic. She has a keen interest in and talent for the improvement of academic policies and structures.  She leads by example, and her dedication and passion for teaching and learning make her a LifeChanger."

Mrs. Valencia has demonstrated rare and unique qualities in working with her fellow teachers. She has motivated the staff to previously unattainable heights. Mrs. Valencia's personal strengths are as impressive as her personal accomplishments. She's an active, outgoing presence on campus, with a great sense of humor. Mrs. Valencia is the perfect person to get a group project rolling, but she also knows how to sit back and let others take the lead. Her cheerful nature and openness to feedback means she's always learning and growing as a leader. That's an impressive strength that will continue to serve her well in her future administrative endeavors.

Mrs. Valencia is just the kind of driven, engaging, and determined teacher leader who is making Campbell High a safe environment where students can take intellectual and academic risks. She is always up for the challenge.

"Mrs. Valencia has my highest recommendation for whatever she sets her sights on," said Greenland. "She has demonstrated excellence and professionalism in all that she puts her mind to, whether it's designing professional development training programs for teachers, collaborating with others on data, or participating and leading many other school projects she is involved in.  Mrs. Valencia's endless dedication, combined with her willingness to take risks, leads me to believe there will be no limit to her growth and achievements when it comes to truly impacting the lives of teachers and students she encounters.  Truly, Mrs. Valencia is the type of teacher/leader and influencer to which we hope our teachers and students are exposed.  It is refreshing to find teacher/leaders with her passion and dedication for improving the school culture and academic progress."
