Marnie Miles-Jackson was nominated by her principal, Phyllis Cubit.
"I have worked with Marnie for over five years now and must say that she is always there for the parents and children," said Cubit. "She is currently working on finding housing for a grandparent who is in desperate need of housing for her and her granddaughter due to an unexpected incident. Marnie has promised the grandmother that she will not give up until she finds a place for her for Christmas. Previously, she has worked with me to make sure that bills were paid for families, clothes were given to families, and of course, be sure there was adequate food for the families."
Below is a note from a parent that Ms. Jackson has helped tremendously. She is truly a LifeChanger for all the parents and students at East Lansdowne.
--
Hello everyone!
I am a widow and mother of five children. My four sons attended East Lansdowne Elementary, but my husband died suddenly before my last boy began Kindergarten. Ms. Jackson has been extremely supportive. She would often call me and set up meetings to talk about my boys' progress, and she always thought of how she could continue to provide support in order to keep my boys motivated academically, even while my husband was alive.
I noticed that my family was not the only one that Ms. Jackson cared for. She always finds the means to help with whatever resources she can get a hold of to offer a great environment for students and their families. She is extremely devoted to her position, and she goes above and beyond, which offers a lot of hope and courage for children to continue working harder at school in a comfortable, happy environment.
After the passing of my husband, Ms. Jackson did not stop there. With the help of the school, she made sure that my children had almost everything they needed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She made the holidays unforgettable! Ms. Jackson offered so many sources and researched how she could support all of us during these tough moments. She also fought hard to help my children enroll into one of the best schools in Pennsylvania, where they could be taught how to be productive, respectful adults in a safe and loving environment. She is surely an angel walking on earth, and I truly have no words to describe how she has positively affected the lives of many families. Ms. Jackson does not treat her job as a job; it's definitely her passion, and she accomplishes way more by touching people's hearts. I wish her all the best in everything she does.
Marnie I’m so proud of you. You’ve always had a sincere passion for kids and families. As someone who has known you over several years I can definitely say you’ve truly blessed so many families. God bless you
Ms Jackson is a very caring person. Ms Jackson works very hard and actively listens to each and every concern and responds to those concerns of others with genuine concern and professionalism.
This is my second year at Park Lane Elementary School and I have never met such a lovely and loving individual. Ms. Jackson genuinely cares for each and every child and their families. She is extremely professional and poised. Ms. Jackson is an awesome example for all of the girls and all of the boys. She knows how to speak to the children. The children feel respected and valued after being with Ms. Jackson. It is a pleasure working with her and even more pleasurable to consider her a friend..
Ms. Jackson works very hard to make sure all of the students in our school get everything they need. She is very caring and the students love her!.
I have worked with Marnie Miles Jackson for most of my 20 years of education and I cannot think of a bigger life changer than her. Marnie is a true team player for our students, parents and staff. She has a gift of giving her full attention to every situation. Marnie relates to everyone with honesty and open-mindness. She helps solve multitude of problems by helping others make their own decisions by giving realistic options.
Marnie has a way to look beyond the words to help our students in personal and educational aspects of their life. She is able to spot subtle signs when students need her. But often times students seek her advisement. They know that Ms Miles-Jackson knows their strengths, needs and interests. Many of the students and parents who Marnie has touched come back long after they have left our school. This is a sign of a true life changer.
It is an honor and privilege to share a few words of support for Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson. As the former principal of Aldan Elementary School, I know first hand Marnie’s level of competence, compassion, and dedication to do whatever it takes to serve and protect the students in her care. For, example, I will never forget how Marnie excelled in helping a student who reported to me they were being sexually abused early in my career. Marnie knew that she had to notify law enforcement and child protective services but, not the student’s parents immediately due to the sensitive nature of the allegations. Because of Marnie’s actions, I can say with confidence that she changed this child’s life. It brought tears to my eyes to hear this child say to Marnie, “Thank you for helping me” when her ordeal was finally over. This is just one of many stories I could share that exemplify how Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson is truly a life changer!
I'm the librarian at East Lansdowne Elementary and I've worked with Ms. Jackson for five years and I can say without a doubt that she goes above and beyond for our students and community each and every day. Her office is located in my library so I see every student, parent, grandparent, community leader, etc. that Ms. Jackson works with daily; I often joke that she must log 50-thousand steps on her pedometer by noon. The respect and admiration Ms. Jackson garners from her students and colleagues alike is a testament to her passion and commitment to her profession and our community. Ms. Jackson has certainly earned the title of "Life Changer".
Ms. Jackson is what I know her as before she got married I've known her for over 18 years she's been there for all 3 of my children she watched them all graduate from Parklane elementary. One day I went to her and told her I was concerned about my youngest son he's been acting different and It was concerning me but what didn't concern me was how she went the extra mile to help me get the services that he needed to excel in school, she is a very awesome person she always call me to check one my oldest children that she watched grow up and out of Parklane it's not enough of her to spread around she go beyond her job to be there for every child and their parent. I would say please, please, please, nominate her for this award as she continues to be there for many families.
It is my privilege to nominate Marnie Jackson for the Life Changer of the Year Award as I have known her for over nine years. She is employed as a Counselor in a high-poverty, high-needs school district in Pennsylvania. The complexity of Marnie’s job description can only be described as ever evolving and multifaceted. She manages completing all the requirements in innovative ways to meet the needs of her school age population, their parents and of her school staff. She is a person who changes and saves the lives of people who come her way!
Daily, she can be observed providing direct support to students to improve their academic performance, educating them about self-esteem issues, teaching them how to solve problems and how to resolve conflicts in a positive manner. In addition to providing therapy to students, she meets with parents, makes referrals to outside agencies for services and intervenes in many crisis situations.
She is flexible and compassionate toward all students in understanding the difficulties socio-economics play in disrupting their lives. They feel comfortable talking to her about their problems and in applying the advice she provides for them to cope successfully. Even under the most distressful situation, she is a champion for all students. When things seem to be at their worst, Marnie “Gets to Going” and puts in the extra time needed beyond her regular day to ensure her students are taken care of appropriately.
In addition, she has developed a strong connection within the school’s community to earn the respect of parents and leaders all of who speak of her very highly. They know that Marnie is there for them and even under the most distressful conditions, she will listen to their worries and find a way to make their lives better. I feel that Marnie certainly meets the criteria as a “Life Changer”!
I have worked with Marnie since she first started in this district. I've watched her help so many children and their families.
You know you're making a difference when the children grow into adults and still come back to visit you!!!
She gave me advice when my son was little and still helps now that he is grown with children of his own.
Her kind and caring ways make her unforgettable.
I am one of the certified school nurses who works with Ms. Jackson at Park Lane Elementary School.... because though it may not be completely clear, she is the counselor at multiple schools in our district and travels between them daily. She is non-stop and always has the students and their families' needs first in her mind. She is a determined, independent, strong community figure, and somebody to be admired. If she is not worthy of this nomination and ultimately this award, I'm not sure who is.
Marnie is such an amazing colleague and I am so glad to hear of her nomination. This is well deserved for the work she does goes above and beyond to ensure the physical and emotional needs of our students are met!
I've had the honor and privilege of working with Marnie for 19 years now. There are not enough words to fully describe all that Marnie does, and all that Marnie means to our school and our community. There has never been a time when I've asked Marnie'for her help or advice, that she hasn't eagerly responded to the call. She has been an incredible source of strength to our children, our community, and our staff.
I can't even imagine what our school would be like without Marnie, and I am so thankful for ALL that she does!
Marnie is always wonderful with students, families, and other teachers in the building. She is extremely helpful in all aspects of the job and really shows that she cares about the families and the students in our district. In this district most of these students really need someone they can trust to talk to and she is almost always the number one choice.
I can’t say that I was shocked when I saw that Marnie was nominated. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for 8 years now. We worked together for a few years and during that time she has always been so supportive and helpful with students. She goes above and beyond for all students, families, and staff. Marnie is also a wonderful friend. She has been there for me during the toughest of times and I could never thank her enough for that. You will always be a winner girlfriend.
I have known Marnie more than six years. She is a very loving and caring person. She always has a smile and a kind word. She is always willing to help in any way she can. She is truly deserving.
I am a School Nurse who works with Marnie, and wholeheartedly support her nomination for Lifechanger of the Year. She works every day to support students and families in our district. She shares community resources, and students know they are cared- for and valued. Thank you, Marnie, for all you do!
Marnie has been instrumental in helping many of the students at Park Lane. She is always compassionate and caring. She is willing to go the extra mile to lend a hand. Thanks Marnie for all you do each day to help our kids.
Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson is so AWESOME from our first conversation after shool hours, I knew that she was a compassionate and caring counselor. The amount of time and acts of kindness that she offers my son is tremendous. Since she has been appointed in my son's life, I feel safe and secure that his academic and educational needs are being effectively met. My child has not experienced support academically in the school system until meeting Mrs. Jackson. I wish that he can have her for the rest of his educational years. She is truly the greatest and meets the needs of her students.
I have had the pleasure of working with Marnie Miles-Jackson for eight years. Marnie is an amazing woman and the most phenomenal counselor. She is always working! Marnie is the only counselor at two schools in our district. I have no idea how she accomplishes so much in just two and a half days a week at each school. She is there for each and every student, parent, and teacher. She goes above and beyond her job description because she loves our children. She is an advocate and role model for our students. The energy, time, and dedication she gives to our community is remarkable. I have learned so much from her, and I am grateful to have her as a colleague and friend. Marnie is a LifeChanger. I witness this every day!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Marnie Miles over 10 years ago, she was the guidance counselor at Aldan Middle School. This was prior to her becoming Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson. I am a Detective for The Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division, Child Abuse Unit. I had received information regarding a sexual assault when I first met Marnie. It’s sad to say, but over the years, I have conducted a lot of child abuse investigations in school districts throughout Delaware County. I have met a lot of school district employees from school bus drivers, principals, teachers, and guidance counselors. It takes a rare type of person that can be involved in a child abuse investigation. Once people hear the allegations and in this case the allegations were horrifying, they politely shake my hand and leave me to my work. But not Marnie, during this investigation she was there for her student. Because now her student had become my little child victim. Marnie was very supportive and gentle. She held her hand the entire time as I talked with my little child victim. Marnie never left her side. As the hours slowly went by Marnie could see the impact that child abuse can have on a child victim. She started to become angry and her famous words were, “Can I be there when you take them down”. At that moment I realized that a friendship had been forged for life. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the “National Life Changer of the year award”. Marnie is very passionate and protective when it comes to her students. She’s always willing to go above and beyond, never looking for accolades or a pat on the back. She’s there fighting for her students when no one else is. In Marnie’s mind she believes that she’s just going to work.
Whenever she believes a child is in danger and/or is in need of help, I can expect a call from her. And trust me we have had our share of calls. And she always stays until the end.
Mrs Jackson is such an amazing counselor! She is makes a difference in the lives of our students! She is such a pleasant person and I really enjoy working with her!
I can’t say enough about the support Ms Jackson has given students as well as staff over the years. She goes above and beyond to hep and educate and goes the extra mile for children in crises so they can get the services they need. She is a great asset to the William Penn School Distrixt.
I've had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Jackson for many years. Mrs. Jackson has always been a kind, caring, and compassionate counselor to the students, staff , and the community. I truly believe that Mrs. Jackson deserves this award because there is no doubt in my mind she has changed many lives.
Mrs. Miles-Jackson is an amazing counselor. She is very patient and caring. She works hard everyday to make sure that everyone feels great that day. She is a fantastic colleague to work with and is very helpful. We are so lucky to have her at East Lansdowne Elementary School.
"It is a beautiful thing when a career AND a passion come together"( Life on the Fly... A School Counselor Blog). Mrs. Miles- Jackson is very passionate about her career and helping others. She is a jewel in our school community. Every child deserves someone who is there to push them forward, to listen to them and also to encourage them to be their very best. She does this every day with every child. She works hard with them so they can become successful and productive during their school journey. She is the epitome of a great counselor for our school community. I am proud of her and all of accomplishments. She is well deserving of this reward. Thank you for ALLLLLL you do for our school.
I've known Marnie since she started in our District. She ALWAYS puts the needs of our students first and continues, often against the odds, to fight for them.
Active,Tactful, Efficient, with Purpose, these are just a few adjectives I can use to describe Mrs. Jackson's character.
Her commitment and devotion to the enhancement of young people is increadible. She has left an indullable impression on the lives of so many students throughout the years as well as my own three children from their years at Aldan Elementary.
Niceeeeee! The Lord always knows what you have need of before you even ask. He sent this angel you're way to meet the need! God Bless her!
I am a Kindergarten teacher at East Lansdowne Elementary School. I have taught at this school for twenty seven years and I received the Teacher of the Year award a few years ago. Ms. Jackson has helped me many times with difficult students who needed services. I have to mention that Ms. Jackson works very diligently to help all students who require assistance both academically and behaviorally. She. follows up with parents, agencies, teachers, and the students to see they get the help they deserve. I could not fulfill my responsibilities as a teacher without the support of Ms. Jackson. She has been invaluable to our school and will go out of her way to support students to become successful learners.
I have known Marnie and worked with her for the past 15 years. I have never seen a more diligent and caring person to work with in my work experience. I have seen her go above and beyond for her students time and again.
She seems to know when a student needs a firm hand or when they need a softer touch. I have learned a lot from her regarding dealing with out kids and I have been honored to work with her as a colleague and a friend. We are very fortunate to have her work with out kids and help them solve or deal with all that goes on in their lives.
It is with my pleasure to write this recommendation Marnie Jackson for Life Changer of the Year. I am a fellow counselor in the William Penn School District and have worked with Marnie for the last 15 years. During this time, I have worked with Marnie in a variety of roles involving crisis counseling, child abuse reporting training, a K-12 Guidance Plan, and attended her grief counseling seminars. She is most famous for her annual Red Ribbon Week campaign and march, her annual Career Day and taking 6th graders on college tours. Another thing that Marnie brings to her students are grief groups from an outside agency, works with the Student Assistance Team and Intervention Team. Marnie recognizes the needs of her students and gets them what they need to succeed. She works with all parts of the community to bring these resources in to the school. Marnie truly believes in each students’ potential and advocates for them when they can’t for themselves. She demonstrates a strong, caring, commitment to the children of her schools, and is passionate, energetic, and motivated. She strong leader for her community and an effective counselor. It is an honor to work with her.
I want to nominate Mrs. Marnie-Miles-Jackson, she is a very dedicated, caring Guidance Counselor for the William Penn School District. She was always there for my daughter when she was at her school, I hope she get her honor and recognition she deserves.
Marnie is so deserving of this award. She is a caring, supportive, and loving person. She is deeply passionate about the wellbeing of her students and their families. I am proud to call her my sister, soror, and friend.
Ms. Jackson is a great!! as a parent you want to feel comfortable LEAVING YOUR CHILDREN IN SOMEONE ELSES CARE. ON MY CHILDRENS FIRST DAY SHE ENSURED ME THAT MY KIDS WOULD BE LOVED AN NURTED HERE AT PARK LANE. MS. JACKSON IS SMART, LOVING AND VERY CARING, I AM GLAD THAT I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING HER.
I have known Marnie for the past 18 years. She is one of the most compassionate and hard working people that I know. Marnie cares about the students and their families and it is so evident when children and their parents constantly ask for her and always want to come back to visit. She will go above and beyond to find resources for the families and to support any person that she can. I can't think of someone more deserving of the LifeChanger award than Marnie Miles-Jackson.
“Compassion is not just feeling with someone but seeking to change the situation. Frequently, people think compassion and love are merely sentimental. No! They are very demanding. If you are going to be compassionate be prepared for action!”
Desmond Tutu
Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson is just such as compassionate, transformative, and empowering counselor. Therefore it with sincere excitement to support her in order to receiving The Life Changer of the Year Award. She is most deserving of the recognition because she embodies a dedication to serving the community with her counseling resourcefulness and actions. She is an elite asset to our school community children, parents, community leaders, teachers, and administrators for a variety of reasons which relate to her counseling work while counteracting adversities in the lives of our most precious assets, our children.
For the past 7 years, I have worked with Mrs. Miles-Jackson as a colleague in the William Penn School District through my role as School Principal at both East Lansdowne and Park Lane Elementary Schools. These years have afforded the opportunity to witness her expertise, judgement, and resourcefulness in advocating for our children and bringing a sense of hope and resiliency to families living in dysfunctional situations. Mrs. Miles-Jackson believes taking care of parents’ needs in turns brings a sense of normalcy to help at-risk students and their families function and become more successful in school. For example, she connects families who are financially struggling, going through a separation, or facing a devastating event (i.e. death, divorce, incarceration, abuse or trauma) to community agencies and resources. Mrs. Miles-Jackson has provided clothing to some families. She has supported homeless families with transportation resources, school supplies, and coats while allowing students and parents to maintain their respect and dignity. She handles each situation discreetly, in confidence, and with clear action.
Mrs. Miles Jackson is a compassionate advocate for students within our school. Her knowledge and professionalism allows colleagues to feel comfortable in seeking her assistance when they were unsure how to address the social and emotional needs of students who experience traumatic realities from very unfortunate struggles.
Mrs. Miles-Jackson reaches out to our school families and finds support for those needing, financial, educational, legal, emotional, and/or mental health resources. Each year Mrs. Miles-Jackson takes our 6th Grade students on a local college tour as a field trip. Last year she assisted a former student with getting into one of these local colleges under a scholarship. The student would have otherwise wasted her intelligence working for McDonald’s dreaming of a better situation for her future. She has assisted parents with completing job applications and referred parents to appropriate family services. Mrs. Miles-Jackson empowers our students and their families to accomplish their goals in their lives in spite of any obstacles!
Since most of Mrs. Miles-Jackson’s counseling work is done in confidence to respect the privacy of those she serves, she can be described as humble yet very personable. Her natural personality is what allows all who she encounters to feel emotionally safe and comfortable to seek out her non-judgmental assistance, advice, and resources. Her humility for those she serves would never allow her to showcase her impactful work! Therefore unequivocally, Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson is an exceptional Counselor and person. She is a genuine life changer based on her compassionate spirit, empowering actions, and relentless work in transforming the lives of students and their families with love and dignity.
Marnie is always so friendly and has an amazing reputation throughout our elementary schools!!!
Mrs. Jackson is a caring person and really takes time for all of her students. She is an unmeasurable resource.
I met Marnie, whom I still call Ms. Miles! Anyway, I met her when I joined the staff at Aldan Elementary as a teacher for students with emotional disabilities. Marnie shared her time between Aldan and Park Lane Elementary. If I needed her on a day she was a Park Lane, I still was able to reach out to her. She has always been everything for the kids! Awesome counselor!
I’ve had the honor and pleasure of working with Mrs. Jackson since 2005. Mrs. Jackson is always on duty as the school counselor. If children and families are in need, Mrs. Jackson works tirelessly in order to aid the families. She has helped parents to: further their education; keep utilities from being terminated; feed and clothe their families; and much more. She also comes to the rescue of school staff members, as my family can attest. Mrs. Jackson is truly a Life Changer!
Marnie Jackson is truly deserving of the Lifechanger award. Having worked with Marnie the past seven years, I have seen her go above and beyond for students, families in the community, and her colleagues as well. She is passionate, kind, and always has the children’s best interest at heart. There is not a problem too big or too small that Marnie doesn’t tirelessly tackle. Our school community is lucky to have Mrs. Jackson on our side!
Marnie is the most tenacious, caring, resourceful, pump wearing counselor I know! I had the pleasure of working with her over 9 years ago when I was the Principal at Park Lane Elementary School. I have been a witness to her many talents as she advocates for children with great needs, when many would have lost hope. I have seen her plan programming that involved the entire school community to make a strong statement to students about saying no to drugs during Red Ribbon Week, culminating in a community walk. She promotes higher education to current and former students by taking students to visit colleges or sharing resources to guide the process. Mrs. Jackson is also an expert at organizing one of the best Career Days, with guest coming out to speak to students, from many different professions. These are just a few examples of why I feel Mrs. Marnie Jackson is a LifeChanger, she has done and continues to do so much to help students. Here unwavering spirit and passion for her children and their families shines brightly everyday!
I have had the pleasure of working with Marnie for the last 13 years at Park Lane Elementary School and I can't think of anyone more deserving of the "National Life Changer of the year award" than her. The contributions she has made to our school is like no other. Marnie is a school counselor who not only represents the best the profession has to offer but also who will continue to set the bar high. Marnie devotes her career to advocating for student's needs. She works diligently providing support and assistance to students and families as they navigate crisis and emergency situations. She continues to go above and beyond the call of duty for many of our students and their families. Each year she successfully organizes our Red Ribbon walk in the community, the coat drive, student trips to colleges and so much more. I want to congratulate my colleague, but more so my friend Marnie for this nomination. No one deserves it more!
Marnie tirelessly helps staff, students and families. I have worked with her for 12 years. She is always available, handles issues with kindness and professionalism. She has a heart of gold. She is truly a Life Changer for anyone that comes im contact with her.
I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Miles-Jackson for the past ten years. In this time I have seen her tireless support for our students and their families. Our staff knows that we can always go to Marnie whenever we have concerns for our students. She always goes the distance to organize our annual Red Ribbon Walk against drugs, coat drives, meals for families in need, and so much more. Mrs. Miles-Jackson helps mentor students, assists in solving conflicts peacefully, and makes sure our students are receiving adequate care. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the title of Life Changer!
I have worked with Marnie Miles-Jackson for about 14 years at the Park Lane Elementary School, and I am proud to hear of her nomination as an outstanding Life Changer. Mrs. Jackson is a kind and loving counselor. She always make time to help our students. No problem is too small or too big. Mrs. Jackson is genuinely concerned about our students and their families. Mrs. Jackson does a great job incorporating school activities and working with the community. Some of the events that she has organized are the red ribbon week, holiday toys for families and, career day. I remember when I first met Mrs. Jackson she told me that she became a counselor because she likes to help people, and it is very clear by the work that she has done throughout the years. I have enjoyed working with Mrs. Jackson for the past 14 years her students and I have certainly benefited, and I hope to continue to work with her for many years to come.
Mrs. Jackson interconnect the students, staff, and parents through her guidance and knowledge. When students or parents are in need of support Mrs. Jackson provides advice and resources that assist them through the situation. It is great that she received this nomination.
Im so proud of Ms. Jackson!! She has made a big difference in our community. All the children loves her and her staff.
Mrs. Jackson is a wonderful counselor and goes above and beyond for not only the students in her schools, but the staff as well. We all love Mrs. Jackson and can't speak highly enough of her.
I am a district occupational therapist that has had the pleasure of working with Marnie Jackson for the past three years. I work with her at two of the elementary schools in the William Penn School District; Park Lane Elementary School and East Lansdowne Elementary. She goes over and beyond for the children and families in our community when she is on and off the clock. "Mrs. Jackson" is on replay echoing throughout the halls of our schools through the students, parents and staff voices. Marnie's knowledge and passion for her position as school counselor has become an integral part of how our schools operate. She is resourceful, relentless and a true "Lifechanger" in our community!
I have worked with Marnie for more than seven years at Park Lane Elementary School. She has been an exceptional counselor here at Park Lane. She is consistently responsive and supportive to all of the needs of our school. She goes above and beyond her job description to assure every concern and issue is addressed. She has done so much for me and all my current and former students. She has helped to make my job a lot less stressful through her attention and resourcefulness to all my students needs. She is extremely personable and builds life long re;relationships with everyone she helps. The whole community has a high level of respect for her because her hard work does not go unnoticed.
I have had the pleasure of working with Marnie for over 3 years. In that time, I have witnessed Marnie make it her duty to go above and beyond the expectations of her role as a School Counselor, in regards to safeguarding the health, overall welfare and safety the students in our school community. Her presence serves as a guiding voice towards practices of inclusion and understanding. Her perspective is multifaceted; such that the she can see the school, the student’s family and community as key factors in individual student development. Most importantly, Marnie always proceeds with the kind of patience born from genuine love.
In short, there are people who come to work, and those who come to do the work! Marnie is an example of the latter.
I have known Marnie Miles-Jackson for many years on the professional level and on a personal level. Marnie is a gifted counselor who serves students throughout their entire educational career and beyond. I say that because, although they leave the schools she serves when they complete the 6th grade, these students find their way back to Ms. Jackson's office for advice and celebrations throughout their educational careers and into adulthood. Ms. Jackson is a rare and talented individual who I am fortunate to have as a colleague and as a friend.
I wish there was a way to quantify just what Marnie Jackson has meant to the Riggs-Gullatt family. There truly aren't enough words to say but certainly, I must try! A guidance counselor extraordinaire, Mrs. Jackson has gone above and beyond for us since my daughter entered 2nd grade at Park Lane. It isn't always easy to raise a child in a single parent household; one that is intelligent and rambunctious and verbose! Oft times, these students are misdirected and written off as un-teachable. From the beginning, Mrs. Jackson saw the giftedness in my child and has supported her accordingly-from helping her to navigate through her challenging emotions, to helping me be able to better understand her needs and abilities. Mrs. Jackson is professional and compassionate and never hesitates to provide useful insight and information- even if the subject is not school related. She truly supports the whole family structure and her commitment and dedication is as real and natural as breathing. You can sense this upon meeting her! My daughter adores Mrs. Jackson because of her kind nature and warm words of encouragement; as a family, we appreciate her for her endless support, intelligent and useful insights and consummate professionalism. Not much else has been as positively impacting in my daughter's school achievements and mental health and maturity as the guidance that Mrs. Jackson has provided to our family. When you can better understand and support your child, encourage and direct them lovingly and efficiently- life truly changes! Congratulations on your nomination Mrs. Jackson- you truly deserve to win!
I have had the pleasure to work with and witness the impact that Marnie has on our school. She goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to supporting the staff and the families in the William Penn School District. Marnie is by far, the most helpful and supportive Guidance Counselor that I have had the privilege of knowing. When I think of it, she is definitely more than a Guidance Counselor in her buildings, she is the heart of them. Thank you Marnie for all that you continue to do for the staff, students and families at our school.
Marnie is an absolute life savor to myself and so many other people in our school community. She is an amazing advocate for all children who goes above and beyond to help in any way that she possibly can. She is dedicated to her students and makes an immeasurable difference in an abundant amount of students' lives.
As a teacher in one of the schools Marnie supports, I feel lucky to have her around! Marnie has always been extremely supportive to my students. Whenever a problem arises in the class, I always try to talk to Marnie about how she can help. She always spends the time to listen and try to work things out. I've never seen her without work on her mind or a student in her office. Splitting her between schools is such a hard thing for our students. There have been many moments where students will say to me, "Is Mrs. Jackson here?" The sad look on their face shows how much she means to them, the staff, and the school as a whole. Not only is she a fabulous guidance counselor in the school for students, she also spends the time to get to know the staff and offers her guidance to us, as well. I feel like I can trust her and feel like she really cares about me as a person and my life. I love seeing her smiling face in the hallway or hearing her stiletto heels walking through the gym, because then I know all will be okay for that day. The only negative thing I can say about Marnie is that we don't have her around enough. If we could clone her into 5 Marnies, I think we would be all set. If that doesn't work, I guess we'll just cherish the moments we have her each week. Congratulations on your nomination! Bring on Hawaii!!
Hello everybody!
Marnie Miles-Jacksoni's nomination is a surprise to nobody. As an elementary guidance counselor in two elementary school of over 700 students, Marnie's compassion and steadfastness are remarkable. We've been colleagues for almost 20 years and her commitment has never wavered. Students, parents, and teachers have benefited greatly from her guidance. Congratulations, Marnie!!
Marnie and I met several years ago, both as new employees to William Penn School District. Although Marnie and I do not service a building together, she continues to remain an integral part and resource for information and support for all the students of the William Penn School District. Marnie is, and has always been willing to lend a hand or advice to support any student in need, regardless of their local or assigned school building. She continues to impress me with her extensive knowledge and professionalism in all her relationships- with children, parents, and staff. This nomination is much deserved and wholeheartedly supported.
In my many years in working with Mrs. Jackson, I have witnessed how she loves helping the students, and their parents. Her job is more than the normal working hours of a Counselor, but to this day I have never heard her complain, it's always their my BABIES ! Mrs. Jackson has been to our students a Parent, their Protector, a Provider and much more. Students who are now Adults and have their own families always come back to visit Mrs. Jackson. They tell everyone because of her it helped them make the right decisions in their life. To a woman who goes above and beyond when it comes to her BABIES, congratulations on your nomination.
Marnie Miles-Jackson has been a tremendous asset to the students and families in the schools where she has served as the school guidance counselor. She is devoted to providing the students /families the best services and resources available to them. Many of the families remain in contact with her even after their children leave the elementary school, just to let her know how they are doing. Ms. Miles-Jackson makes a positive impact in the lives of her students on a daily basis. Her blend of caring, tough-love support works! She is well deserving of this nomination as a LifeChanger!
I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Jackson for over 10 years. I have found her to be an outstanding guidance counselor, mentor, collaborator and individual. Mrs. Jackson works tirelessly for the benefit of her students and their families. She is well regarded by her colleagues as an outstanding resource. Mrs. Jackson is completely reliable and follows through to ensure that the job gets done. She has organized many school activities for students such as Red Ribbon week, career day, and trips to visit colleges. Mrs. Jackson accomplishes tasks with great initiative and with a positive attitude. I congratulate you Mrs. Jackson on this nomination of the Life Changer of the Year Award, you deserve it!!
Mrs. Jackson is such an amazing, loving, and caring person who ALWAYS keeps a smile on her face. She goes above and beyond for the children and their families as well. It is a blessing to know such a great person like her! We appreciate EVERYTHING she does for East Lansdowne Elementary. Couldn’t have asked for a better counselor!
Marnie Miles-Jackson has the right name - she goes the extra MILES every day in every way. When I think of the best guidance counselor I have ever met, she is at the top of my list. She may be petite, but she towers above the rest.
#LCOY Marnie Miles-Jackson from East Lansdowne Elementary School. Marnie is an amazing counselor for the students their families and staff. We can always count on her to be whether on and off the clock. You can really tell everything she touches she touch with love and compassion.
I have had the pleasure of working with Ms Marnie Jackson for six years now. Ms. Jackson is an excellent youth counselor, a tireless advocate for those who need help advocating for themselves, and an ongoing support for teachers like myself. Our field of public education can often seem like a thankless job, where the needs of the community far exceed the capabilities of the staff. It is a pleasure to see the hard work and sacrifice of Ms. Jackson honored in this way.
As a teacher at East Lansdowne Elementary School I am grateful to Marnie Jackson for the work she does for our families, students, teachers and staff. She is the epitome of a Life Changer. She is changing lives here in East Lansdowne EVERYDAY. She works with students in our building that are overcoming trauma, living in poverty, or have a disability. She works closely with teachers and families as well, identifying needs and getting services for those that need them as quickly as possible. She doesn't just do the job in her job description. She moves mountains for the William Penn School District community.
I have worked with Marnie as a classroom teacher, aiding students and families in need, for seven years. I have gone to Marnie for support when students show signs of stress, trauma or abuse. She is quick to meet with families or make arrangements for students and families that need support. She is quick with her response and knows that time is of the essence when it comes to children in need. I have sat in several meetings with Ms. Jackson and families as she asks the tough questions and gets down to the bottom of the problem or issue. She does more than listen, she offers programs, actions and a piece of mind at these meetings, giving families and students hope for better things to come.
As the student council moderator at East Lansdowne Elementary School I work with Marnie Jackson to bring in preventive programs for our students. One program that has won County recognition is our Red Ribbon week program. The last week in October we educated our students about drug use and abuse. Ms. Jackson organizes a Red Ribbon Rally, where members of our community come to speak to our students. To commemorate the week we take the red ribbon pledge and tie red ribbons on our fence around our school to promise not to use or abuse drugs in the future. Our student council and Ms. Jackson have received recognition from the county DA for her work to combat drugs and build up this necessary program for our school community.
At the end of the day when the lights go out and the building doors are locked, you'll find Ms. Jackson still in her office, on the phone, in front of the computer, files on the desk, working to make the lives of neediest children in Delaware County, PA better. There is no one else I know that is more deserving of this award.
Thank you Ms. Jackson!!
I have worked with Marnie for over ten years and have witnessed the exceptional contributions she has made to our school district. She has dedicated herself to enriching the lives of students and families by advocating for students’ academic and social/emotional needs and providing ongoing support and resources. Marnie is a positive life changer for her compassion and commitment and always goes above and beyond to help others!
In my capacity as Public Relations Coordinator for the William Penn School District, I have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Marnie Miles-Jackson for many years. If there is anyone amazingly well-suited for her career, it is Marnie. I have known her to go above and beyond the call of duty for many families throughout the years. She is seemingly forever pleasant and professional and her care shows through with the dedication she has. I’ve also seen her organize anti-drug activities in the schools and in our neighborhoods, organize successful career activities for students, arrange student trips to local colleges, and put together generational activities for students and older adults at local nursing home facilities – just to name a few of the projects she has spearheaded. Marnie is a remarkable woman and a very deserving recipient of the Life Changer of the Year Award!
I'm so excited to support one of our most dedicated/supportive Guidance Counselors!
Mrs. Marnie Jackson goes beyond the school day for students, parents and staff. It really doesn't matter who you are, she's always happy to help out! Mrs. Jackson absolutely loves her job "which I'm sure isn't just a job" but her passion"!!! She moves in a very quiet, yet humble way without fanfare, she prefers to be behind the scenes.
Mrs. Marnie Jackson, congratulations on your nomination!!!
Marnie is one of my colleagues. It is amazing to see a guidance counselor be so dedicated to the students, their families and the staff at East Lansdowne Elementary school. On any given day, you can find Marnie running around school, assisting wherever she is needed. Most times when a child is having difficulty, Marnie is the first person that we turn to, to help devise a plan to help the child. She runs an excellent red Ribbon awareness week, with guest speakers from all over the county. I have witnessed Marnie work tirelessly after the work day is over, to take parents to appointments, go to court to speak on the behalf of a child and call in the proper resources to help with the most challenging cases. There is never a job that is too big or too small for Marnie and her high heels. She handles her business with a smile and professionalism. It has been my pleasure to work with Marnie for the last 7 years.
Mrs. Jackson goes over and beyond the call of duties for the students and family at East Lansdowne, she never stops until they receive the assistants that she needs. I have watched her raise money for mothers to pay there house bills and put food in the house. I have call Mrs. Jackson in the summer about families and she has never turned her back. Mrs. Jackson was my children counselor when they attended Park Lane and she was just as great back then.
