Beth Grant was nominated anonymously.

Mrs. Grant is more than just a fifth-grade English language arts (ELA) teacher. She is a cornerstone of the Chambers County School District. Recently honored as Huguley Elementary's Teacher of the Year, she has spent her entire 10-year career dedicated to the students of this community. Her commitment to her students is deeply personal, inspired by her mother—also a fifth-grade teacher—and fueled by a genuine desire to make a lasting difference in children's lives.

Mrs. Grant's impact extends far beyond the ELA curriculum. As the leader of the Yearbook Club, she helps students document their history and learn the value of reflection. She uses this platform to instill empathy in her students, notably by leading a project to collect donations for the pediatric unit at East Alabama Medical Center. In her classroom, her goal is simple but profound: she wants every child to leave her care with the ability to take responsibility for their actions and the confidence to move forward.

What truly sets Mrs. Grant apart as a LifeChanger is her heart for service outside the school walls. For many years, she served as a foster parent in Chambers County, providing a safe and loving home to children in need. At home, she and her husband, Jason, manage a vibrant household of eight children, balancing the needs of those still at home with the pride of those who have grown. She is candid about the "emotional toll" of teaching and the weight of seeing children struggle despite her best efforts. Yet, she returns to the classroom every day with the energy of a "showgirl" (inspired by her favorite Taylor Swift theme song) and the intellectual curiosity she hopes to spark in her students. Whether she is discussing the history of Alexander Hamilton or sharing her love for diamond art and Disney, she brings her whole self to her work. In her words, "The most rewarding part of teaching is making a difference in the lives of children."

"Beth Grant is a teacher who doesn't just teach lessons; she changes lives through her unwavering kindness, her community service, and her deep-rooted belief in the potential of every child," said the nominator.
