Music that Describes Brittany
Brittany Bush was nominated by an anonymous colleague.
Ms. Bush motivates her students and colleagues. Her journey to become an educator was not traditional. She majored in computer technology at LSU, but soon realized that she was not happy with her career choice. She became a teacher through alternative certification. No one would know that teaching wasn't her first choice based upon her dedication to her students and her colleagues.
Within the district, she serves as a teacher leader. She works with fellow teachers to help implement curriculum. Ms. Bush has also worked with Louisiana's Department of Education to provide feed back on teacher training and curriculum.
In the classroom, she motivates her students to be the best and brightest. She teaches them more than the standards and curriculum. Her students leave her with skills that will carry them throughout their lives. She helped to establish a STEM club for the students. Recently, her students participated in a competition to build a moon base using Legos. Through this activity, her students were exposed to opportunities they may have otherwise missed out upon if she was not their teacher. Her students also excelled on Louisiana's LEAP 2025 assessment. A number of her students performed at the mastery and advanced level.
Ms. Bush fosters a sense of family with her colleagues and students. She is active with both students and colleagues outside of school hours. She is the teacher that attends her students' games and non-school related events. Ms. Bush has a genuine love for the profession and what it entails.
"I admire her and hope to be as great of a teacher as she is. She is a LifeChanger for all of her students. She leads, she motivates, and she loves," said her nominator.
