Jordan Sisson was nominated by a family member, Kerry Jung

Ms. Sisson creates a safe space for seventh graders to solve problems.  She's a math teacher whose work was recognized when she was awarded the 2019 SPARK award for innovation in the classroom by the Wausau School Foundation.  However, her impact on her students far surpasses the curriculum.   It may best be expressed in the words of her students, who send her thank you cards for talking to them about their mental health and openly supporting the LGBTQ community. This becomes even more impressive when you learn she has only been teaching since 2015.  Ms. Sisson is an extraordinary young teacher making a difference far beyond her subject matter.  For the students who flourish in the safe space she creates, she is indeed a LifeChanger.

Jordan has also been an essential leader in moving our school forward in the areas of Social Emotional Learning and Culturally Responsive teaching. I look forward to watching and working with Jordan as she continues a path to support our students.

You have always been supportive of the LGBTQ community and it's great that you are being recognized for all your hard work. You bring about lots of creative and innovative learning to your students on a daily basis. You work not only to make changes in the classroom but also in our school with the committees you are on. Great job, Jordan.
