Marcus Billups was nominated by a family member, Thomas Leonard.

"I have known Officer Billups my entire life. He is like a second father to me," said Leonard. "We grew closer when I became a teacher at Alexander City Middle School. He is always the listening ear for the faculty, staff, and students. Personally, he has been my go-to guy for a word of encouragement, advice on a situation that I could going through in life, or help with a situation to help keep one of my students on the right path. Sometimes, it may not be what they wanted to hear or what I want to hear, but it was always what was needed to be said or heard. He is one of my biggest supporters inside and outside of the scholastic environment."
